AMERICA’S GOT TALENT Season Six is over! Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. is the official winner of AGT Season Six. With a huge parade of acts performing tonight so much was going on at times I forgot why we were there. Def Leppard, One Republic, and Jackie Evancho all sang their hearts out in a prelude to the big announcement. Def Leppard certainly proved that they are still one of the best heavy metal bands of all time. Rock on!
Ironically, when the final four acts got the chance to perform with their favorite famous counterparts during the season finale, they were upstaged by them. Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. sang with Patti La Belle and, although they looked pretty good on stage, they were singing the song in very different ways. If was as if each were performing to a separate audience, same goes for PopLyfe singing, not with, but alongside the legendary Stevie Wonder. PopLyfe carried their tune a bit quicker than Wonder did. Maybe they just didn’t have enough time to rehearse, and it showed. The dance groups Silhouettes and Team iluminate did not have the same issues because they danced while Cobra Starship and Leeann Rimes sang. No one stepped on anyone’s toes, but still the seasoned pros definitely stood out from the newbies.
However, those performances aren’t why America was watching. We waited for an hour and a half before any results were read. And the first result was no surprise. A disappointing performance last night by PopLyfe all but sealed their fate for fourth place when they tried to tackle Queen for their grand finale performance. The effort was there, the results, sadly, were not.
Also not entirely a shock was Team iluminate finishing third. Although the act is a great stand-out achievement, there were times when their florescent light up clothing wasn’t entirely working. It is the finals after all – every mistake shows in a very grand way.
So that left Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. and Silhouettes as the two remaining acts. Either could have won it. Both were phenomenal the whole way through, from the auditions to the semi finals, but Murphy, Jr. shone through brighter. Perhaps because we were able to get to know him as an individual and not as a group or team, he rose above the rest.
From a car washer to a million-dollar crooner as host Nick Cannon called him, Murphy, Jr. beat all the odds and surpassed all obstacles to make it where he is today. America has spoken and they have chosen Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. as the winner of AMERICA’S GOT TALENT Season Six.
Next year: AGT Season Seven!
