I guess two times is not a charm on the world’s greatest karaoke competition, AMERICAN IDOL, because Casey Abrams, who was saved from elimination earlier in the season and thrived for a number of weeks, got the boot on the show in what is probably a surprise. Maybe it wasn’t a fluke the first time he got the lowest amount of votes. Maybe the IDOL voters are more fickle than I give them credit for.
I thought he did pretty good last night. Was it his best performance? No. But it was really entertaining and fun. So I guess I don’t understand why the people voting for him in the past that enjoyed his similar shenanigans didn’t like these? Did they vote for the wrong person as I thought may have been the case the time before? We’ll probably never know.
But that’s good news for the other contestants, one of the heavy hitters is out of the ball game and the two remaining girls weren’t even in the bottom this week. So who knows where it will go from here.
Before I recap how the results went down, just know I have saved you from hearing yet another terrible medley, an even worse Ford commercial, a complete waste of time in asking the contestants questions from the public and a lame Bruno Mars doing his shtick that for some reason has become popular.
Here’s how it went down on the show in terms of how the bottom three were revealed and who got the boot.
They decided to do a random reveal of the results. Haley Reinhart was up first, and after a slew of judges’ comments and a look at her performance from last night, she’s safe! Well, that’s a switch considering she’s been in the bottom the last few weeks.
Seacrest pulls Scotty McCreery on stage but doesn’t reveal his status, instead calls up Lauren Alaina and then Casey Abrams and does the same thing to both of them, adding to lame unnecessary drama.
James Durbin is called up and he is safe. Next he calls the rest of them down and Lauren Alaina is safe.
That means Scotty McCreery, Casey Abrams and Jacob Lusk are in the bottom three. Seacrest said something about a surprise or the answer will surprise us so it could very well be Casey or Scotty.
Jacob is safe. Down to Scotty and Casey. And it is Casey that is sent home.
