Well, the contest is anyone’s ball game after losing James Durbin on the world’s greatest karaoke competition, AMERICAN IDOL.
This was a complete shock. James has never been in the bottom at all. He was the only one to never be in the bottom. Yet, he’s gone. I figured that James was a lock for the finals. He was and is such a good singer. He rocked the house every single time he was on stage. I can’t believe that people voted for Scotty McCreery and his terrible second performance over what James did last night. Seems unfathomable to me. I guess Seacrest had a Nostradamus moment last night when he said that this was the week that Daughtry was eliminated on the show during his season.
Was he too cocky? Did people vote for the wrong number? Or was it that they truly did not like what he did last night? Maybe the judges were so harsh on Haley last night, all of the James votes went to Haley as sympathy votes. I guess we’ll never know but one thing I know now: This is anyone’s contest. I figured James for the finals and whoever would stand against him had their work cut out. Now, it seems all three of the remaining contestants – Haley Reinhart, Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery – could take it all. Will there be two females in the finals for the first time? It could very well happen.
Here’s what you missed in the lead up to the freaking announcement of the person going home, which takes way to long and we have to sit through way to much crap. You missed two duets (James and Scotty, Lauren and Haley), another product placement for Windows 7 allowing them to get a message from home, a taped performance of Lady Gaga’s “You and I” that Haley Reinhart sang last week, a lip synced song (?) from Enrique Iglesias, a balloon toss (and Seacrest almost doing a Jesus-dive), more product placement with another dumb Ford Focus commercial, a performance from Jordin Sparks, an odd video from Steven Tyler and, of course, way too much unnecessary drama.
Here’s how the results went down on the show minus all the fluff. Seacrest brings all four up to the stage and Lauren Alaina is the first person going to the next round. Next, Haley Reinhart is also safe and in the final 3. That means either Scotty McCreery or James Durbin is going home. And a shocker as James is sent packing.
