That’s it! No more tryouts. No more wild cards. No more You Tube acts. And no more dragging it out NBC, AMERICA’S GOT TALENT’s final ten have been picked and will compete against each other starting next week.
Yes, there were many great acts to choose from and yes, it was a very difficult choice to make, but I managed to pick all five last night that made the cut. Why? Well, it really is simple to figure – which acts have lasting power and which have or ultimately will run out of steam? First easily making the cut was perhaps the best act of all ten – Silhouettes. First out was Steven Retchless the pole dancer who we knew would just be too much for middle America and Gymkana who had a terrible fall during their act, injuring one member of their dance team.
Cut to the annoying “That’s What’s Poppin’” promo and then back to the show with David Guetta performing alongside Nicki Minaj and Flo Rida. It’s all a matter of musical taste as to whether or not you enjoyed their performance. Back on track, third out and fourth out were Professor Splash and Fatally Unique. Second in was Anna Graceman and then, in an almost cruel moment host Nick Cannon kept Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. on stage with Graceman after announcing that Graceman had in fact been picked.
Cannon asked Murphy, Jr. about his time on AGT and then suddenly told him that maybe his journey was not yet over because…”you make it too!!” Tacky, kinda. Mean…yes. Can you imagine his heart racing from the pit of his stomach to the top of his head in less than two minutes?! Nevertheless, Murphy, Jr. was thrilled with the news, lifting little Graceman up off the ground like a stuffed doll.
Fifth out was Summerwind Skippers, who also made at least one crucial mistake in their routine, pretty much closing the book on their chances of making it through. Illusionist Landon Swank made the fourth pick and then as we listened to Susan Boyle belt out a whammy of a song there were just three acts waiting in the wings to hear their fate – Snap Boogie, Kinetic King and Smage Bros. Riding Show. In the end it all came down to Smage vs. Snap. The judges decided it was the Smage Bros. Riding Show America wanted to see and so off went Snap Boogie, hopefully not back to the street but performing on a stage somewhere out there.
There you have it – Silhouettes, Anna Graceman, Landau Murphy, Jr., Landon Swank, Smage Bros. Riding Show, Team Iluminate, Lys Agnes, PopLyfe, Miami All Stars and West Springfield Dance Team are the official AMERICA’S GOT TALENT finalists. Next week, the FINAL TOP TEN perform! Finally, THE FINALS! Stay tuned!
