Finally the DANCING WITH THE STARS fans have voted reality star Kendra Wilkinson’s booty off the dance floor along with partner Louis Van Amstel. She lasted through seven weeks during Season 12 and many low scores, but they apparently have had enough of her shimmy shaking.
It was definitely time for her to go. The other five … Ralph Macchio, Hines Ward, Romeo, Chelsea Kane and even Kirstie Alley are all better than she is. It would be unfair for anyone else to go, true that happens all the time, but not tonight!
The encore tonight given to Team Chelsea’s Cha Cha, ironically was not the team Wilkinson was on. Maybe that was a clue. Or maybe just a coincidence? Who knows? Whatever the truth may be, Wilkinson is gone and now five vie for the semi finals. Two dances next week as well will seal the deal for just four couples.
Tonight with performances by Nicki Minaj, James Blunt and the newest member of the Royal Ballet of London Patricia Zhou, the night seemed low key, almost as if no surprises were to be uncovered and no remorse was to be left on the dance floor. Wilkinson has nothing to be ashamed about and everything to feel proud about. She came far in the competition and she did not lose, she just placed sixth.
However, not everyone should feel proud. In a tribute to James Brown, the king of Soul they got … Wayne Brady to sing? That’s the best they could do? Really? The Macy’s Stars of Dance accompanied Brady through his collage of Brown ditties making it one of the weaker weeks of the Macy’s Stars of Dance performances.
More interesting was a video segment on the celebs and their dancing counterparts sitting at a talking and basically going through quickie ballroom therapy. The gist was to have the stars ask the pros what they need from them and then vice versa. It was insightful and showed how the couples off the dance floor communicate with each other minus the shakes and gyrations. The segment should have been longer, it was intriguing and worth more time than the piddling 60 seconds given to it. The producers obviously have much more footage of the duos’ face to face sessions. Maybe some of it will come out later on. Let’s hope!
At any rate, the floor is cleared for next week. Wilkinson is gone. Macchio, Alley, Ward, Romeo and Kane remain. Stay tuned!
