Tonight’s episode of DANCING WITH THE STARS: movie theme week could have easily been titled DWTS: ONE FALSE MOVE. That’s exactly what happened to newly ousted Chynna Phillips who time and time again has performed brilliantly on the dance floor but, sadly, last night she just blanked out and lost concentration which cost her…dearly. She is the fourth celeb eliminated from DWTS: Season 13. Other than the weekly disappointment of elimination, the rest of the show had great momentum with a return visit from Julianne Hough, who along with her FOOTLOOSE co-star Kenny Wormald, danced up the place to a new version of Kenny Loggins’ hit “Footloose” performed by Blake Shelton.
But before the female Hough jumped back onto the dance floor we saw Raphael Saadiq open the show with “Soul Man” from the cult classic THE BLUES BROTHERS. A video snippet of what audience members thought of the couples the previous night led off the show after Saadiq’s opening number. Well, only the “famous” audience members were shown. Apparently, only their opinions count, right? It was a star-studded group with Courteney Cox, Paul Reubens, Bruce and Kris Jenner, Billy Baldwin, Dr. Phil McGraw and his wife Robin among them.
Susan Boyle did a very s-l-o-w version of “Unchained Melody,” a song featured in the film GHOST. Soon, we heard the news….Ricki Lake and Derek Hough were the first safe couple – no surprise there. Next J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff were safe. Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke were left “in jeopardy”.
After Julianne wow’ed the audience and then became overcome with emotion it was back to business in the ballroom. Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer made it AGAIN! Yea! How can you NOT root for him, I mean, really! Carson Kressley too, along with Anna Trebunskaya are in for at least one more round of dancing. Once we were told that Phillips and Tony Dovolani were in jeopardy I had a hunch that it was the end of the road for them. I so want Dovolani to win…just once! Not this time, I guess. The celebs discussed what it was really like to compete on the show and how much work it takes in a video segment. Then, siblings Derek and Julianne took to the floor with a fun and inspired routine. Three duos were left to wait and wonder… just how big of a fan base do I have? Nancy Grace and Triston MacManus apparently have a good size one, after all, she gets to advertise herself every day on her show. She’s safe. Kardashian, too, has a show to pimp himself on. Phillips…has none. She’s out. Eight couples remain. Stay tuned.
