DOCTOR WHO - Season 6 final poster |©2011 BBC

We’re a day away from the eagerly awaited debut of DOCTOR WHO Series 6 (simultaneously on BBC and BBC America), but there are so many lingering questions from the convoluted and complex saga that ran through Series 5! So let’s recap what mysteries still linger and what aspects of show runner Steven Moffat’s sprawling story arc – some of which began as far back as the 2008 two-part tale, “Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead” – we hope get wrapped up or at least explained this year: 1. Who or What is the Silence? ‘Silence will fall’ according to […]Read On »

AMERICAN IDOL recap: Stefano Langone finally gets the overdramatic boot

Stefano Langone is eliminated on AMERICAN IDOL - Season 10 - Final 7 elimination night | ©2011 Fox/Michael Becker

So it was time for Stefano Langone to go home this week on Season 10 of the world’s greatest karaoke competition, AMERICAN IDOL. Well, I can’t say that I didn’t see this one coming given I have predicted his departure from the show for the past four weeks in a row. And, honestly, he should have been gone a long time ago before this week. No way in hell Pia Toscano should be gone and not Stefano. With his crazy eyes, weird facial expressions and wacky overdramatic nature to his performances (not to mention his singing ballad after ballad) finally […]Read On »

Exclusive Interview: Morgan Spurlock shills THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER SOLD – Part One

POM Wonderful presents THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER SOLD movie poster | ©2011 Sony Classics

I think it was around the time that James Bond boarded a Brazilian tram car with a 7-Up placard before sending a villain smashing through a British Airways billboard that I noticed (even at the tender age 15 years) that this movie was trying to sell me something. That isn’t to say how much more obvious those thoughts were when Elliot introduced E.T. to earth commercialism by handing him Reese’s Pieces, or how a Dr. Pepper machine just happened to be in the control room where Raymond Burr was facing off against GODZILLA ‘85. Those days of on-camera advertising now […]Read On »

Single Review: THE CARS – “Sad Song” 7 inch (Record Day 2011 Exclusive)

The Cars - "Sad Song" 7 inch single | ©2011 Concord/Hear Music

Distributor: Concord/Hear Music Suggested Retail Price: $4.99 It’s fitting that Record Store Day 2011 would include a 7 inch single from 1980s band The Cars who have reunited for the first time since 1988. They debut two new songs that are off their new album MOVE LIKE THIS due out May 10 and it feels like it’s the 1980s all over again. Sure, downloading tunes is easier, but to actually get an A and B side in a nifty sleeve reminds us why going to record stores is such a long lost tactile art in the digital age. “Sad Song” […]Read On »

Single Review: MICHAEL JACKSON – “Behind the Mask” 7 inch (Record Day 2011 Exclusive)

Michael Jackson - "Behind the Mask" 7 inch single | ©2011 Sony

Distributor: Sony Suggested Retail Price: $6.99 Michael Jackson mania may finally be over. After lackluster sales for his 2010 posthumous release MICHAEL, the fervor following his death (and a resurgence of his old music) didn’t translate into sales for the hodge podge of leftover tunes from his vaults. Some claimed there was too much studio work done to the demos he left behind, others claimed he wasn’t singing on all the tracks. I will say, that there were at least a few songs on the disc that were damn good, and probably should not have stayed in the vault as […]Read On »

Exclusive Interview: CINEMA VERITE star Thomas Dekker gets real – Part 1

Thomas Dekker in CINEMA VERITE | ©2011 HBO

In an age where no one bats an eye at watching a man with mascara on network family hour, or showing off their flamboyantly great fashion style for reality television, it’s hard to remember when homosexuals were barely shown (and swishily condescended to when they were) on America’s sets. Don’t even ask what you mostly got on the big screen. Leave it to Lance Loud to make his sexuality heard loud and clear for millions of Americans when PBS cameras became part of his clan’s lives for their groundbreaking series AN AMERICAN FAMILY. Beyond showing that “real” people were just […]Read On »
