And this was a shocker. Just when you think you have it figured out that the tweens are dominating the competition by putting chicks in the bottom three for the past two weeks, everything goes topsy-turvy and we have two dudes in the bottom, not to mention all three people that have not yet been in the bottom. Jacob Lusk, Pia Toscano, Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina are first and […]Read On »

The Dork Side: Random Acts of Snarkiness (IDOL, Chris Brown, Sheen, Lohan)

Justin Bieber at the Los Angeles Premiere of Justin Bieber: Never Say Never | © 2011 Sue Schneider

Last week, I tried to get happy, but it didn’t stick. This week I’m back to my snarky self. I blame it on the fact that there wasn’t a new episode of GLEE this week, and the only female chef was eliminated on TOP CHEF, making it yet another all-male finale. Every season that show serves up tasty sexism and I eat it right up … So anyway, let’s get started: * According to TMZ, AMERICAN IDOL finalists have moved out of the IDOL mansion due to paranormal activity. I hear the place is haunted by the ghost of Taylor […]Read On »

CD Review: Miranda Cosgrove – HIGH MAINTENANCE

Miranda Cosgrove - HIGH MAINTENANCE E.P. | ©2011 Sony Music

Distributor: Sony Music Suggested Retail Price: $9.78 Out of all the tween singing princesses spawned from Disney Channel/Nickelodeon shows, Miranda Cosgrove has the most potential to break out and have a pretty sturdy musical career long after her core audience has moved on. Last year’s SPARKS FLY was an excellent debut CD from the iCARLY star that mixed 1980s pop and techno with a modern sensibility. There were a bunch of great tunes on that disc including “Sparks Fly,” “Disgusting” and “Shakespeare” and now she’s looking to take things to the next level with her five-song E.P. HIGH MAINTENANCE. Exclusive Interview: BONES star John Francis Daley has a Sweets time

John Francis Daley in BONES - Season 6 | ©2010 Fox/Brian Bowen Smith

On BONES, shady guest characters have a tendency to underestimate the professional skills of Dr. Lance Sweets, the youthful clinical psychologist who works with the team in profiling suspects – and occasionally profiles his colleagues, much to their discomfort. John Francis Daley (of FREAKS AND GEEKS and the Broadway production of the Who’s TOMMY), who plays Sweets, evaluates his work on the show for us. ASSIGNMENT X: Did you do any research into being a mental health professional when you got this part? JOHN FRANCIS DALEY: I just made sure to hang around a lot of mentally unstable people. Sigh. Motown. Really? Again with Motown IDOL? How many years must we do this? Certainly we can come up with a better theme night than this right? There are so many other bands or genres that you could tackle. How about a U2 night? Or, shocker, an Aerosmith night? Not like you have the lead singer as a judge? […]Read On »

While promoting his return to the SCREAM franchise with SCRE4M, actor David Arquette is thrilled with the latest incarnation and how the time in between the films has really given director Wes Craven and writer Kevin Williamson a whole new horror playground. “There have been ten years in between with horror films and technology changes and it’s really exciting,” says Arquette. “With the new cast coming into this, it’s interesting to see too. They are reflections of us when we first got there. It brings an electricity like we had on the first film and with this and now a […]Read On »

I don’t even know what MySpace is. He’s watching things and learning. He’s constantly bettering his mind and the way he directs Ghost Face and makes him turn his head. It’s eerie. Neve Campbell in SCRE4M | ©2011 Dimension Films

While promoting her new film SCRE4M, actress Neve Campbell explains that it was like old times doing this horror film reboot – particularly looking back on the three films they did before. “I had fun watching the films again before we started this to get a sense of it,” says Campbell. “They held up well.” And as many horror films throughout the 2000s went through the darker, torture fun phase, Campbell relished the fun she had working on this kind of horror film. “We were having fun during filming,” says Campbell. “You’re not feeling it’s a dark experience. There’s humor […]Read On »

SCREAM 4 teaser poster | ©2011 Dimension Films

While speaking to the press today, SCRE4M director Wes Craven dispelled rumors that he was displeased with the heavy rewrites supposedly done to the Kevin Williamson script by Ehren Kruger (who penned SCREAM 3). “I’m very pleased with the movie and how the script turned out,” says Craven. “It was a result of Kevin’s master script and Ehren did a decent amount of work on specific scenes. I wrote sections of the film myself, but it’s very much Kevin’s concept and over-arching framework of the film.” SCRE4M opens April 15, 2011 CLICK HERE to hear about COURTENEY COX talking about […]Read On »
