TV Review: BEING HUMAN – SEASON ONE – “I See Your True Colors … and That’s Why I Hate You”

Sam Witwer in BEING HUMAN - Season 1 - "I See Your True Colors … and That’s Why I Hate You" | ©2011 Syfy/Phillipe Bosse

Like Aidan’s fang poking out from under his lower lip, the U.S. version of BEING HUMAN finally finds a personality of its own with a plot thread not seen (at least in the first season) of the U.K. version, as werewolf Josh is roped into going back home to see his parents. These loving, well-educated, upper-middle-class, politically correct folks think […]Read On »

TV Review: V – Season 2 – “Uneasy Lies the Hand”

Joel Gretsch and Elizabeth Mitchell in V - Season 2 - "Uneasy Lies the Hand" | ©2011 ABC/Jack Rowand

Stars: Elizabeth Mitchell, Morris Chestnut, Joel Gretsch, Logan Huffman, Laura Vandervoort, Morena Baccarin, Scott Wolf, Charles Mesure Writer: Cameron Litvack, Gregg Hurwitz Director: Jeff Woolnough Network: ABC, airs Tuesday nights Original Telecast: March 1, 2011 Maybe I’ve been wanting V to turn itself around so badly,  that I completely overlooked how campy it’s become. With “Uneasy Lies the Hand”, the show has somehow devolved into a silly soap opera with hokey dialogue, ridiculous reaction shots and a wholly unbelievable romantic hook-up that was worth it only to see Elizabeth Mitchell (who plays FBI agent Erica Evans) undressed and sporting a […]Read On »

Time to put up or shut up. Go big or go home. Play ball or sit on the bench. Blow the place out or go down in flames. Can I come up any other clichés? Nope, so I’ll move on. We get the boys, er men first and given the quality we saw in the opening episodes of […]Read On »

Paramount Pictures held the Los Angeles Premiere of RANGO on February 14 at the Regency Village Theater in Westwood, CA. Fans were everywhere and when Johnny Depp arrived the screams were deafening. Johnny took the time to go to each section and sign as many autographs as he could. The carpet was a sand color to match an “Old West” theme that was the backgrounds that ran the carpet. RANGO is from the director of THE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, Gore Verbinski, and features Depp in an original animated comedy-adventure that takes place in the Wild West. The story follows […]Read On »

TV Review: THE CHICAGO CODE – Season 1 – “Cabrini-Green”

Jennifer Beals in THE CHICAGO CODE - Season 1 - "Cabrini-Green" | ©2011 Fox/Jeffrey Garland

Stars: Delroy Lindo, Billy Lush, Matt Lauria, Jennifer Beals, Jason Clarke, Devin Kelley and Todd Williams Writers: Tim Minear, Jon Worley Director: Jean de Segonzac Network: Fox, airs Monday nights Original Telecast: February 28, 2011 Think of THE CHICAGO CODE episode “Cabrini-Green” as a superb mini-movie masquerading as an episode of network television. The latest installment of Fox’s impressive new series is damn good, exploring the numerous shades of gray and corruption in the city particularly with Alderman Gibbons (Delroy Lindo), the show’s Big Bad. Superintendent Teresa Colvin (Jennifer Beals) has been doing everything she can to take Gibbons down, […]Read On »

TV Review: THE CAPE – Season 1 – “Razer” – Series Finale

Summer Glau in THE CAPE | ©2011 NBC

Stars: David Lyons, Keith David, Summer Glau, James Frain, Jennifer Ferrin, Ryan Wynott, Vinnie Jones, Martin Klebba, Izabella Miko, Anil Kumar, Elliott Gould, Grant Bowler Writers: Tom Wheeler & William Wheeler Director: David Straiton Network: NBC, Mondays @ 9 PM Airdate: February 28, 2011 It’s impossible to blame the makers of THE CAPE for the distinctly not-final feel of the series finale, “Razer” (spelling is correct). They weren’t expecting their order to get cut from thirteen to ten, let alone having the aired order pared down to nine. As a result, “Razer” sets up some major questions that creator Tom […]Read On »

TV Review: CHUCK – Season 4 – “Vs. The First Bank of Evil”

Lauren Cohan in CHUCK - Season 4 - "Vs. The First Bank of Evil" | ©2011 NBC/Greg Gayne

Stars: Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Adam Baldwin, Joshua Gomez, Vic Sahay, Scott Krinsky, Sarah Lancaster, Ryan McPartlin, Mark Christopher Lawrence, Bonita Friedericy Writers: Henry Alonso Myers, Craig DiGregorio Director: Frederick E.O. Toye Network: NBC, airs Monday nights Original Telecast: February 28, 2011 Is Vivian Volkoff (Lauren Cohan) good or evil? That’s the big question CHUCK offers up in “Vs. The First Bank of Evil.” While Chuck (Zachary Levi) spent the first four seasons looking for his mom and dad, it thankfully didn’t send him over the deep end – it just made him a spy. However, after the events of […]Read On »

TV Review: CASTLE – Season 3 – “Countdown – Part 2”

Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion in CASTLE - Season 3 - "Countdown - Part 2" | ©2011 ABC/Karen Neal

Stars: Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic, Susan Sullivan, Molly Quinn, Ruben Hudson-Santiago, Jon Huertas, Seamus Dever Writer: Andrew W. Marlowe Director: Bill Roe Network: ABC, airs Monday nights Original Telecast: February 28, 2011 Yikes! So last week on CASTLE, while on the hunt for a terrorist dirty bomb, we left Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) locked in a freezer with the stiff of one of the suspects. It was looking grim for our heroes, but, oh, come on. Didn’t this show get picked up for season 4 yet? Never mind all the crap about dirty bombs in the first […]Read On »
