Exclusive Interview: THE CAPE star Vinnie Jones sheds his skin

Vinnie Jones in THE CAPE - Season 1 | ©2011 NBC

In NBC’s THE CAPE, which has its finale tonight at 9 PM, the masked but non-superpowered hero must contend with several villains including Scales. What dock boss Dominic Raoul, aka Scales, may lack in social manipulation skills, he makes up for in sheer toughness (and has somewhat reptilian skin to go with the nickname). When the character is meant to be immediately intimidating, it helps to cast an actor like Vinnie Jones, the English former footballer turned actor who has played a lot of gritty types in films like his debut, LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS, SNATCH, X-MEN: THE […]Read On »

Wyman, Akiva Goldsman Director: Fred Toye Network: Fox, airs Friday nights Original Telecast: February 25, 2011 When the previews to last week’s FRINGE had us going back in time to when Walter (John Noble) was working with the Cortexiphan kids in Jacksonville, Florida, I was hoping we’d finally get to see it. Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki in SUPERNATURAL - Season 6 - "The French Mistake" | ©2011 The CW Network/Jack Rowand

Cast: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins, Jim  Beaver Writer: Ben Edlund Director: Charles Beeson Network: The CW, Thursdays at 9 p.m Original Telecast: February 25, 2011 SUPERNATURAL is unique in that it not only has no problem making fun of itself, but it actually lives for it. “The French Mistake” was indeed one of those times where Balthazar sends the Winchester boys to an alternate dimension where Sam (Jared Padalecki) is named Jared Padalecki and Dean (Jensen Ackles) is named Jensen Ackles. Where Misha Collins is just an actor playing Castiel and there are no vampires, werewolves, demons or […]Read On »

The 83rd Annual Academy Awards – The Complete List of Winners

THE KING'S SPEECH wins Best Picture at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, February 27, 2011 | ©2011 A.M.P.A.S.

There’s not much to say about the 83rd Annual Academy Awards, except that as much as they promised to be young and hip by hiring James Franco and Anne Hathaway to host, it was still the same old Academy Awards. Translation: few surprises, a dearth of actual laughs and predominantly canned speeches lacking any emotion or wit. That said, THE KING’S SPEECH took home the Best Picture title, while frontrunners Colin Firth won for Best Actor in SPEECH and Natalie Portman for Best Actress in BLACK SWAN. The full list of winners are below … Best Picture Iain Canning, Emile […]Read On »

Starring: Tom Welling, Erica Durance, Allison Mack, Justin Hartley, Cassidy Freeman Writer: Anne Cofell Saunder Director: Christopher Petry Network: The CW, airs Friday nights Original Telecast: February 25, 2011 With SMALLVILLE being so uber-serious during its final season, when it decides to take it easy for a week and engage in its playful side, the result is the incredibly bizarro (and occasionally enjoyable) “Fortune.” Taking a HUGE riff on THE HANGOVER, the episode starts off with the beginning of the bachelor and bachelorette parties for Clark (Tom Welling) and Lois (Erica Durance). After drinking some roofie-like wine (a spell was […]Read On »

Sometimes they’re so bad they’re wonderful (SHARKTOPUS was one of the great schlock joys of recent memory), but it’s still something of a surprise to see a Syfy Saturday premiere that’s actually good, with no qualifiers. AREA 51 deposits us at that famous Air Force base in the Nevada desert (actually filmed in Baton Rouge, […]Read On »

Exclusive Interview: Director Jason Connery crashlands into AREA 51

John Shea in AREA 51 | ©2011 Syfy

Area 51 is the real U.S. Air Force base where it has been rumored for decades that the remains of alien spacecraft and possibly some actual aliens have been locked away from prying eyes by the military. AREA 51, the movie premiering on Syfy tonight at 9, takes this set-up and asks what would happen if visiting journalists, while being steered away from the base’s most unusual sights, were inadvertently the trigger for all hell breaking loose. Bruce Boxleitner, Rachel Miner and Jason London star as beleaguered Air Force personnel, with Vanessa Branch and John Shea as the reporters. The […]Read On »
