TV Review: BOB’S BURGERS – Season 1 – “Human Flesh” – Season Premiere

The Belchers on BOB'S BURGERS - Season 1 | ©2011 Fox

Created by Loren Bouchard, BOB’S BURGERS is the latest attempt to find something new, within the familiar family comedy dynamic, but the show tries to hard to be crude and not hard enough to be funny.

This is the kind of comedy that would feel right at home on Comedy Central., but on network television, it feels dragged out and desperate.

Clip of the Day: Jim Carrey gets freaky on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE

Jim Carrey and Taran Killam in SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE - Season 36 | ©2011 NBC

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE has always been hit and miss, but with the usually hilarious Jim Carrey hosting, one only hoped the show would have been better than it was. However, among the mediocrity, there was this deranged, short sketch that got it right.  Set in an amusement park ride, it used Carrey (and SNL cast members Taran Killam and Bill Hader) in a weird, nightmarish scenario. The sketch didn’t drag, it wasn’t redundant, it got in, and got out – with tons of laughs. Check it out below to see what we mean:

While promoting his new superhero comedy THE GREEN HORNET today at the Sony Pictures lot in Culver City, CA, star and co-writer Seth Rogen admits that he and fellow writer Evan Goldberg weren’t thinking beyond the first movie while making this revisionist super hero tale. “We’re not the kind of writers to save ideas,” says Rogen with his trademark laugh who plays the titular character – a hero who poses as a villain to take a bite out of Los Angeles crime with his dutiful (and more than able sidekick) Kato (Jay Chou). “If it’s remotely good we shoved it […]Read On »

For six seasons, from 1993 through 1998, Jane Seymour as Dr. Michaela “Mike” Quinn and Joe Lando as her stalwart love Byron Sully thrilled television audiences with their chemistry. Although the two actors have remained friends in real life, they haven’t been paired again on screen – until tonight at 9 PM EST, when the Hallmark Channel reunites Seymour and Lando in the original romantic comedy PERFECTLY PRUDENCE. As an added bonus, Seymour’s real-life daughter Katherine “Katie” Flynn also stars in the telefilm. PERFECTLY PRUDENCE is a sequel of sorts to Hallmark’s 2008 DEAR PRUDENCE, which starred Seymour, but not […]Read On »

Elijah Wood in the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy | ©New Line Cinemas

Cool news on the movie front today – it’s official that Elijah Wood will be returning to the Shire and appear in the two-film Peter Jackson directed THE HOBBIT as Frodo Baggins, a role he originated in the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy. Ironically, Frodo doesn’t appear in THE HOBBIT books, but I’m sure Jackson has a logical way of incorporating him into the universe. Expect more news of other returning RINGS actors in the coming weeks.

CAMELOT - Season One | ©2011 Starz

At today’s Winter TCA press tour session in Pasadena, CA, CAMELOT executive producer Chris Chibnall spoke about how his take on the King Arthur/Merlin fable  (which debuts on Starz on April 1) will definitely have its share of sex and violence. “I would say this is a drama for adults,” says Chibnall. “We’ve approached it as a drama for adults with characters with complex, conflicting desires. There’s some sex in there. There’s some violence in there. I think it’s its own beast. It’s a show for adults, which is my main thing. It’s not a family thing. There are other […]Read On »
