Kristoffer Polaha in RINGER - Season 1 | ©2011 The CW/Art Streiber

In the CW’s new series RINGER, which airs Tuesdays at 9 PM, Sarah Michelle Gellar stars as twin sisters Bridget Cafferty and Siobhan Martin. Bridget thinks she has problems when the series starts, what with her issues as a recovering narcotics addict, being the star witness in a Federal court case and having a homicidal mob boss after her. Bridget flees to Siobhan’s side in the Hamptons, but it turns out that Siobhan is mixed up in something pretty bad, too. Siobhan fakes suicide, and the terrified Bridget winds up impersonating her identical sibling – and then finds out someone […]Read On »

TV Review: TERRA NOVA – Season 1 – “The Runaway”

Christine Adams in TERRA NOVA - Season 1 - "The Runaway" | ©2011 Fox/Brook Rushton

Cast: Jason O’Mara, Christine Adams, Byron Brockmann, Shelly Conn, Stephan Lang, Simone Kessell, Landon Liborion, Allison Miller Director: Jon Cassar Writers: Barbara Marshall Network: Airs on Fox, Mondays @ 8pm Original Telecast: Oct. 17, 201 So, hey, when are we getting some dinosaurs in your dinosaur TV show? TERRA NOVA was billed as a JURASSIC PARK meets LOST with a dash of AVATAR, yet for the most part this show has been dinosaur-free instead focusing on lame storylines involving the Shannon family, troubles teens have with girls (and boys), rebellious moonshine making other teens and a whole host of plotlines […]Read On »

Like heck, she isn’t, and it comes out when Castle gets tangled up with a really hot insurance investigator who horns her way into their latest case. In this one, a museum director […]Read On »

TV Review and Recap: DANCING WITH THE STARS – Season 13 – Week 5 – “1980s Week”

J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff in DANCING WITH THE STARS - Season 13 | ©2011 ABC/Craig Sjodin

Stars: Chaz Bono, David Arquette, Nancy Grace, Robert Kardashian, Carson Kressley, Ricki Lake, J.R. Martinez, Hope Solo Network: ABC, airs Mondays, Tuesdays Original Telecast: October 17th, 2011 It’s 1980s week on DANCING WITH THE STARS. The challenge was that quite a few of the professional dancers weren’t even out of their diapers in the ’80s. So, their input wasn’t exactly something they could conjure up and flashback to with any hands on ability. Still, some nailed it, others did OK and then, well, there was Carson Kressley. Oh, Kressley it is time to go. Once again he came in last […]Read On »

Analysis: Is DANCING WITH THE STARS a Popularity or Talent contest?

The Mirror Ball trophy from DANCING WITH THE STARS - Season 12 - Week 10 - "Finals" | ©2011 ABC/Adam Taylor

There were a lot of people up in arms over the early dismissal of Chynna Phillips last week on DANCING WITH THE STARS. A few were still peeved over the Kristin Cavallari debacle the previous week as well. So, I decided to do a little investigating and looked up all the scores from seasons 1-12 and compared the scores of the runners up to the official winners to see just how much of an influence the audience actually has in determining the winner. In other words, I added up all the judges’ tallies alone. You might be surprised by what […]Read On »

TV Review: FRINGE – Season 4 – “Subject 9”

Anna Torv in FRINGE - Season 4 - "Subject 9" | ©2011 Fox/Liane Hentscher

Cast: Joshua Jackson, John Noble, Anna Torv, Seth Gabel, Lance Reddick, Jasika Nicole Writer: Jeff Pinkner, J.H. Wyman, Akiva Goldsman Director: Joe Chappelle Network: Fox, airs Friday nights Original Telecast: October 7, 2011 Here’s the problem with a show like FRINGE that continues to break the rules in order to try something different – some genre fans are so savvy they can see the “truth” before the big twists actually arrive which spoils part of the fun to begin with. With “Subject 9”, it’s one of those episodes where genre fans will see the ending coming a mile away – […]Read On »

TV Review: SUPERNATURAL – Season 7 – “Defending Your Life”

Faran Tahir in SUPERNATURAL - Season 7 - "Defending Your Life" | ©2011 The CW/Jack Rowand

Stars: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Jim Beaver, Faran Tahir, Alona Tal, Julian D. Christopher, Emilie Ullerup Writers: Adam Glass, series created by Eric Kripke Director: Robert Singer Network: The CW Original Telecast: October 14, 2011 One of the pleasures of SUPERNATURAL is the show’s flippant entities, as opposed to the I’m-gonna-get-you variety. True, the cheerful off-hand types aren’t always on hand, but when they are – think Mark Sheppard’s Crowley, Richard Speight’s Trickster/Loki/Gabriel and Sebastian Roche’s Balthazar, to name a few – they’re a hoot. We can add to the list Faran Tahir’s Osiris, Egyptian god of judgment, who turns […]Read On »
