During today’s 2011 Summer TCA session, BBC America announced that they will be launching their first, self-produced original series in the summer of 2012.
Called COPPER, it will be a ten episode series from Cineflix Studios and producers Barry Levinson and Tom Fontana.
“Copper captures the immigrant experience in 19th Century New York,” says BBC America General Manager Perry Simon. “The show maintains our U.K. connectivity in a bold and smart way. I didn’t want our first original series to be a ‘A London cop gets transferred to Las Vegas.’ COPPER explores the multi-culturism in early America and it’s a great fit for our fans.”
