At today’s HBO session at the Summer 2011 TCA in Beverly Hills, TRUE BLOOD executive producer Alan Ball says he’s definitely on board for Season 5 of the series that stars Anna Paquin as Sookie Stackhouse.
“There will be an end for me on this show at some point, but I just closed a deal to do another season,” says Ball. “I don’t have any desire to leave, because I’ve had more fun than I’ve ever had in my life.”
As for scoops on the new seasons, Ball reveals they will be showing how one of the vampires were “made” and new characters will also be added in Season 5.
“We’re creating new characters for season 5 in the writers room,” reveals Ball.
In terms of diverging from the novels by Charlaine Harris, Ball says his mission statement is very simple.
“My rule of thumb for working with source material is the books are Sookie’s story, told by Sookie,” notes Ball. “So since the show is more of an emsemble show, we have more freedom coming up with [stories for the other character’s].”
