Not sure what I can say that I haven’t already said about the Top-24 performance on the world’s greatest karaoke competition, AMERICAN IDOL.
Over the past two nights in my two reviews, I gave my opinion on who I thought America would choose (not who I want, but who they’d choose) including from the girls: Pia Toscano, Naima Adedapo, Thia Megia, Lauren Alaina and Ashthon Jones. From the boys: Jacob Lusk, James Durbin, Casey Abrams, Scotty McCreery and Stefano Langone.
But, my opinion means squat, unless I’m totally right and then I’ll rub it in everyone’s faces. So let’s see who stays and who goes in the “biggest elimination in IDOL history” as they are so proud of telling us.
Of course, we spend about 20 minutes doing absolutely nothing but recapping and introducing the contestants. If they really have this much time to kill why not boil it down to a half hour and make our viewing experience a little better. I really don’t care about hearing about the contestants’ week and what they enjoy about IDOL. I want results, I’ve already spent three hours this week with IDOL, I don’t need a half hour of fluff. I know it is all about ratings but I gotta imagine a good handful of the audience only tunes in at the end to see who moves on. Maybe their ratings would be better if they truncated it. Yet another 90 minutes (with the majority being fluff) is unbearable.
Anyway, here we go: Scotty McCreery and Robby Rosen take the stage … this one should be fairly easy. And I’m right as Scotty is in, Robby is out.
Next Clint Jun Gamboa, Jovany Barreto and Jordan Dorsey take center stage. Now, I think all three shouldn’t be moving on but usually there is at least one from every group. Clint and Jordan are out. And a shocker as they put three up that don’t make as Jovany is also out.
First up for the ladies is Pia Toscano and Lauren Alaina both I think should be moving on so we’ll see what happens. I feel another swerve coming: Lauren is in and so is Pia.
Ta-Tynisa Wilson and Julie Zorrilla then take the stage. I feel yet another swerve coming as both will probably not make it. Yep, Ta-Tynisa is out and Julie is out.
Another three ladies take the stage with Kendra Chantelle, Ashthon Jones and Karen Rodriguez. Who moves on? Ashthon and Kendra are out. Karen is in. A bit of a shocker there but I guess I underestimated the Latin voting block which results in my first miss of the night.
They bring out another three of dudes with Jacob Lusk, Casey Abrams and Tim Halperin. Who moves on? Jacob is in (good!), Casey is in and Tim is out.
Yet another three-some with Lauren Turner, Thia Megia and Naima Adedapo. Who moves on? Naima is out, Lauren is out and Thia is in. D’oh missed another one as I had Naima making it.
Brett Loewenstern and Paul McDonald get called down next. Who moves on? Paul is in, Brett is out. I guess I am wrong on another one coming up.
Haley Reinhart and Rachel Zevita are next. Who moves on? Haley moves on and Rachel is sent packing. I was three out of five for the girls.
James Durbin and Stefano Langone are last. Who moves on? James is in, Stefano is out. I was four out of five for the boys, making me seven out of 10 overall – not bad eh?
The wild card competition consisted of six contestants singing again for the votes of the judges including: Ashthon, Stefano, Kendra, Jovany, Naima and Robby.
So who gets a second chance? Ashthon, Stefano and Naima. Yep, there will be a Top-13. And funny the three picks that I had that didn’t make it via votes were those moved on anyway.
So again you’re Top-13 on AMERICAN IDOL include:
- Scotty McCreery
- Lauren Alaina
- Pia Toscano
- Karen Rodriguez
- Jacob Lusk
- Casey Abrams
- Thia Megia
- Paul McDonald
- Haley Reinhart
- James Durbin
Wild Cards:
- Stefano Langone
- Naima Adedapo
- Ashthon Jones
