I guess I am a bit confused about FRINGE “6:02 AM EST” in that I never knew that Faux-livia (Anna Torv) actually gave a rat’s ass about “over here.”
Everything we saw from her during her time on our side showed someone that was completely devoid of any feelings for the people over here. She killed people in cold blood. She betrayed and tricked Peter (Joshua Jackson) a number of times and did all sorts of other bad deeds including stealing property from our side and delivering it to Walter-nate (John Noble).
Now, all of the sudden she wants to save the other side and at the risk of her own newly born son that she nearly died delivering? Seems a bit of a wild switch for her character … at least to me. While some of the other “over there” Fringe team questioned the motives of Walter-nate, Faux-livia was always the one towing the line and doing what she was told to do. So we are now to believe she just throws it all away and becomes a good guy?
Anyway, with only two episodes left we are gearing up toward the decision that Peter will have to make in order to either save our universe, save the alternate universe or do what he wants and save both (if he can).
But in order to do that, he has to get into the machine and Walter-nate has stopped that right now by activating the machine and causing havoc in our world. It also caused the machine to reject Peter sending him flying off the machine and incapacitated. That’s not good, because a slew of incursions are happening as a result of the machine being turned on – tearing our world apart as part of Walter-nate’s plan.
Now, Olivia must rely on Sam (Kevin Corrigan) in order to help Peter save the world. Sam, who owns the bowling alley that seems to be a conduit for both universes, seems to have unlimited knowledge and technology that can identify the incursions happening. What part he will play in the last two episodes we don’t know as he has been a relative anomaly to the show only to give mysterious advice or half-truths whenever it is convenient.
One thing is certain, it is bound to be an exciting ride if they handle it correctly. One thing I did enjoy was Walter praying to God to take out his own transgressions on him and not his son and the world. While we know of his tests with the kids, we still have never seen the bad things he did on the show. Yeah, they have talked about it. Yeah, we know of it, but we haven’t seen it. Even in flashbacks when he was working with Olivia he never seemed to be that cold, calculating individual that we saw so long ago in Season 1 when he got locked away back in the mental institution. I hope in Season 4 we get some time to explore this part as it is a fascinating plotline.
