While ABC has not made a decision if the reality singing competition DUETS will return for a second season (the ratings haven’t so great), ABC Entertainment Group President Paul Lee says he has been pleased creatively with the show and no decision as been made about a second season next summer.
“We haven’t made a decision about it, but the cast was fantastic and we loved the twist of Jennifer Nettles or Kelly Clarkson getting up and singing and not just being judges,” says Lee. “Reality is hard because it’s much more difficult now to find the shock of the new. It’s a mature genre. I think the key is execution and making sure that you have a hook that you can bring people on. This one does not resonate particularly with the audience, but we love the hook of DUETS. We thought it was a really good idea and we loved the performances that our stars brought to it.”
