Bye Bye boys the girls are going to the finals on DANCING WITH THE STARS! Emmitt Smith & Cheryl Burke and Apolo Anton Ohno & Karina Smirnoff were eliminated on week nine of the competition, leaving Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani, Shawn Johnson & Derek Hough and Kelly Monaco & Val Chmerkovskiy to duke it out in the finals next week. Ironically, Ohno & Smirnoff were given the encore honors tonight before being let go, a swan song if you will. Johnson and Hough were first to be told they were going to the finals. Then an A T & T spotlight performance from a unique dancer named Parris Goebel preceded The Wanted revving up the house with their high pitched octave vocals reminiscent of The Bee Gees in their early days.
Before long the news was out, Rycroft & Dovolani made the cut but Ohno & Smirnoff were out. In the most impressive Macy’s Stars of Dance performance probably ever, Paula Abdul performed a concept number using some pre-taped footage and a dream melody of four of her hit songs from the 80s. Pro Hough also gave a very stylistic performance with four dance project members that certainly showed his wide variety of talent. Quickly it was time to end the show with the final results. Surprisingly Smith & Burke were eliminated and Monaco & Chmerkovskiy are going to the finals next week. That’s it, the finals await us, three females go up against each other next week for bragging rights and the mirror ball trophy…who will win…stay tuned!
