On February 2nd, New Line Cinema held the Los Angeles Premiere of JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND, a Contrafilm Production at the Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
The fans that lined Hollywood Boulevard screamed loudly when Vanessa Hudgens and Dwayne Johnson arrived. Johnson walked across traffic to sign autographs while the press patiently waited for him to come back and walk the carpet.
JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND is the follow-up to the 2008 film JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH. In this 3D family adventure the story begins when seventeen-year-old Sean Anderson (Josh Hutcherson) receives a coded distress signal from an area where no island should exist. Sean’s stepfather Hank (Dwayne Johnson) joins the quest and is joined by Gabato (Luis Guzman), the only helicopter pilot willing to risk flying there. Joining Gabato is his beautiful, strong-willed daughter Kailani (Vanessa Hudgens). The island is a beautiful place with strange and threatening life forms, volcanoes, and mountains of gold and has more than one secret. Living on the island is one lone human, Alexander (Michael Caine), the grandfather of Sean. Unfortunately, Michael Caine was not at the premiere.
Seen walking the brown carpet were the stars of the film, which included: Dwayne Johnson, Josh Hutcherson, Vanessa Hudgens, Kristin Davis, Luis Guzman, Andrew Lockington (Composer), Charlotte Huggins (Producer), Richard Outten and Brian Gunn (Writers).
Joining them were guests, which included: Bella Thorne, Katherine McNamara, Riley Thomas Stewart, Matt O’Callaghan, Marley Shelton, Ashley Tisdale, Austin Butler, Donald Sutherland, Colin O’Donoghue, Chase Ryan Jeffery, Rachel McAdams and from Metallica: James Hetfield and Robert Trujillo.
JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND opens on February 10th in 3D, along with the new original 3D LOONEY TUNES cartoon short DAFFY’S RHAPSODY.
