In this day and age, TV shows aren’t cancelled anymore, they’re just quietly taken off the air with hopes no one will notice.
In the case of Fox’s new animated series ALLEN GREGORY (co-created and voiced by Jonah Hill), Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly confirmed today at the FOX TCA press session that the show is indeed cancelled and won’t be back.
“We will not be making any more ALLEN GREGORYs,” says Reilly. “We had a great experience with Jonah. We’re in business with him. He has a live action comedy with us. We tried it, but creative content is challenging no matter what. Animation is particularly challenging. We did not know, going into the this season, where we were going with THE SIMPSONS deal and hadn’t finalized THE FLINTSTONES. BOB’S BURGERS we’ve ordered beyond next spring. We want to take shots with the next generation. Some are going to work, some aren’t. I think you’re going to see BOB’S BURGERS going to the next level [this season]. I like what’s going on with NAPOLEON DYNAMITE.”
