With Howard Stern set to take over for Piers Morgan on AMERICA’S GOT TALENT this summer, NBC has been taken to task by the Parents Television Council (PTC) for this decision, worried that Stern will tarnish the show’s family-friendly image.
However, NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt at today’s NBC TCA press tour says he’s not worried by Stern and his previous Shock Jock antics at all and thinks he will make a great addition to the hit summer franchise.
“I’m not worried a bit,” says Greenblatt. “Aside from his radio personality, he’s a very thoughtful and intelligent person. He’s a huge fan of the show and he wants to be a really good judge. You will hear him say this too. He loves the show. We went to him because he has a real affinity for this talent competition. He’s going to be a great judge and he takes it seriously. He doesn’t for a second plan to be a Shock Jock judge. He’s a big personality and these judges have big personalities. What would AMERICAN IDOL be without Simon Cowell?”
