TV Review: FALLING SKIES – Season 2 – “Young Bloods”

Noah Wyle in FALLING SKIES - Season 2 - "Young Bloods" | ©2012 TNT/James Dittiger

Stars: Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Will Patton, Connor Jessup, Drew Roy, Maxim Knight, Sarah Carter Writer: Heather V. Regnier Director: Miguel Spaochnik Network: TNT, airs Sunday nights Original Telecast: July 1, 2012 FALLING SKIES continues to improve on Season 1 in so many ways. There’s urgency to the Resistance, there’s more emotion and it feels like the series is heading toward something bigger. In many ways, the series feels like it’s also taken some cues from the similarly themed THE WALKING DEAD by parceling out just the right amount of character stuff with its “threat” stuff, and in this case […]Read On »

TNT’s action series LEVERAGE begins its fifth season on July 15 on TNT, and today, the show’s star Timothy Hutton gave a little tease about what to expect. The new season begins with Nate Ford (Hutton) and his team of former thieves (who help the helpless by taking down big targets by performing elaborate cons) have set up shop in Portland, OR (where the series is filmed). Nate’s addiction issues are the heart of the new season, as he finally recognizes he wants to get better, while “trust” is also a theme according to Hutton. “For Nate, the way his […]Read On »

TV Review: FUTURAMA – Season 7 – “Decision 3012”

Bender in FUTURAMA - Season 7 - "Decision 3012" | ©2012 Futurama TM and ©2012 Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp. All Rights Reserved

Stars (voices): Billy West, Katey Sagal, John Di Maggio, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Phil LaMarr, Lauren Tom, Dave Herman Writer: Dwayne Carey-Hill Director: Patric M. Verrone Network: Comedy Central, Wednesday nights Airdate: June 27, 2012 It was a smart move by the FUTURAMA writers to use this year’s election to do their own sci-fi take on campaigning and how society views on voting for a President just never change. And “Decision 3012” is a smart piece of political satire, even if it isn’t the type of laugh-out-loud funny we come to expect from the show. The concept is simple. The […]Read On »

TV Review: TRUE BLOOD – Season 5 – “Whatever I Am, You Made Me”

Rutina Wesley in TRUE BLOOD - Season 5 - "Whatever I Am, You Made Me" | ©2012 HBO/John P. Johnson

Just in case we weren’t aware of the keen contributions normally made to TRUE BLOOD by Rutina Wesley’s blunt-spoken Tara and Kristin Bauer van Straten’s brilliantly acerbic Pam, the episode “Whatever I Am, You Made Me” drives the point home by muffling both characters. Make no mistake, Tara and Pam are both front and center here, it’s just that they’re both in dead serious mode. Newly-vamped Tara, having fled from her cousin Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) and Sookie (Anna Paquin), almost kills a helpless woman changing a tire. Tara gets some self-control and takes shelter with old boss/boyfriend/shapeshifter Sam (Sam Trammell). […]Read On »

Stars: Tyler Posey, Crystal Reed, Dylan O’Brien, Tyler Hoechlin, Holland Roden, Colton Haynes, Linden Ashby, JR Bourne Writer: Ned Vizzini & Nick Antosca Director Tim Andrew Network: MTV, airs Monday nights Original Telecast: June 25, 2012 It’s about time TEEN WOLF started revealing some things, and finally it does with “Venomous”, an appropriately titled episode since it reveals a snake (i.e. a new form of shapeshifter) hiding in our core group. After several episodes of teasing, “Venomous” finally offers up the big reveal about half-way through the episode, and while it’s not altogether surprising, I’m just relieved it’s a major […]Read On »
