MARVEL’S AGENTS OF SHIELD, ABC Tuesday nights at 8 PM, deals with the team of non-superpowered folks who assist, investigate and otherwise deal with things pertaining to superheroes in the universe of THE AVENGERS. The series, created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, brings back Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), somehow resurrected – we don’t know quite how yet, but it’s clear Coulson himself has been misled – after his death in AVENGERS as the team leader. If last year’s THE AVENGERS was any indication, Marvel Studios knows how to manage its stable of comic book characters in film and how to maximize storylines, characters and talent over the course of multiple movies. Anchoring THE AVENGERS was Robert Downey Jr. as billionaire Tony Stark, aka Iron Man and now he’s back flying solo again with IRON MAN 3. Although this could be viewed as a direct sequel to THE AVENGERS (Stark has post-traumatic stress from saving the world from invading aliens), the latest film directed by Shane Black (taking over from Jon Favreau) grounds the film in […]Read On »

The Top Ten Gwen Stacy SPIDER-MAN comic Multiverse moments

In THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN hitting theatres, Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) doesn’t have a familiar red head as his number one squeeze. Mary Jane Watson is not the object of his affections this time around, and instead we have Peter’s first love from the comics Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone). Gwen or Gwendy as she is often called was played by Bryce Dallas Howard in a sort of botched attempt to introduce the character into the film continuity in SPIDER-MAN 3, but that wasn’t the actress’s fault – that movie just had far too many problems. So now that new fans are […]Read On »
