One of the fall season’s biggest success stories has been the Tom Selleck CBS drama BLUE BLOODS bringing in the ratings at 10:00 pm on Friday nights – a night that is generally known as the death slot for other networks. With the show doing so well, CBS will be airing new episodes of BLUE BLOODS for a handful of weeks on Wednesday nights to see how it does in the slot and at today’s CBS Winter TCA press day in Pasadena, CA, CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler addressed the temporary move. “The show has done incredibly well, and we […]Read On »

At today’s CBS Winter TCA press day in Pasadena, CA, CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler spoke about the recent troubles with Charlie Sheen who stars on their hit show TWO AND A HALF MEN (which is produced by Warner Bros). “We have a high level of concern, how can we not,” admits Tassler. “Personally first, on a very basic human level is concern. This man is a father. He has children. He has a family. So obviously there’s concern on a personal level. But you can’t look at it simplistically. Charlie is a professional. Big news (and sad news) for THE OFFICE fans. Yes, Steve Carell is leaving at the end of the season of the NBC series, but he’s leaving much earlier than expected. Instead of making the last episode of the season his swan song, executive producer Greg Daniels revealed to ASSIGNMENT X tonight in an exclusive interview at the NBC Winter TCA party, that Carell will be departing on the April 28th episode, giving THE OFFICE a handful of episodes to deal with the aftermath of Michael Scott’s exit during the rest of Season Seven. “The big scoop tonight, he’s not […]Read On »

With the American remake of the recent BBC series BEING HUMAN set to debut on Syfy on January 17, the cast and executive producers appeared today at the Winter 2011 TCA’s to talk about the similarities and differences between the two incarnations of the show. The basic premise remains: vampire Aidan (Sam Witwer), werewolf Josh (Sam Huntington) and ghost Sally (Meaghan Rath) all share a loft together and try to get to the bottom of what it’s like to “being human.” “I would say if you’re a fan of the original, you’re going to see a show that starts much […]Read On »

TCA 2011: Conan O’Brien says the last word on Jay Leno and NBC

While Conan O’Brien’s new TBS talk show CONAN has continued to impress in the ratings, while speaking to the press at yesterday’s TCA press tour, he reflected back on the whole Jay Leno/NBC situation in what should hopefully be the final word on the subject. In terms of Jay Leno (who we all know retired from THE TONIGHT SHOW, didn’t leave NBC and started a 10:00 pm talk show, that was canceled and then was responsible for Conan leaving THE TONIGHT SHOW and Jay taking over again), O’Brien says he doesn’t think much about it and has no interest in […]Read On »

At yesterday’s TCA session, George Lopez chatted about his TBS talk show LOPEZ TONIGHT, the actor-comedian-talk show host says he was happy to accommodate Conan O’Brien and his new talk show coming over to the network as his lead-in. In fact, he’s almost Zen about it. “I was replaced by cavemen on ABC,” says Lopez, referring to that network’s decision to cancel his sitcom THE GEORGE LOPEZ SHOW for a show about modern day cavemen. “To move an hour and bring in Conan – it’s nice to be at midnight and I was not unhappy. I’m here. He’s over there. […]Read On »

During today’s TCAs for Fox’s Studio Day, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER actress Alyson Hannigan commented on the recent news that BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER was going to be made into a feature film sans Joss Whedon. Needless to say, she isn’t too happy about it. In response to the question about would she like to crap on the movie, she responds: “A BUFFY [THE VAMPIRE SLAYER] movie without Joss, I would crap on that,” Hannigan told the press. “Joss was Buffy.” I guess that puts the kibosh on any guest appearance from Willow. The last person you’d be expecting to star in a superhero movie would be comedian Seth Rogen. And the last person you would expect to be co-writing a superhero movie (with writing partner Evan Goldberg) would be Rogen too. Yet, on Friday, Rogen will make his superhero debut with THE GREEN HORNET, playing the iconic green-masked hero from the old radio serials who is given a modern-day facelift with comedy and crazy action. Think of it as SUPERBAD meets superheroes as Rogen plays Brit Reid, a wayward playboy and heir to his father’s newspaper empire. Realizing he wants to do […]Read On »

It was a big shock earlier this week when The History Channel announced they were canceling the already filmed and completed eight-part mini-series THE KENNEDYS following the lives of that important First Family. Starring Greg Kinnear as John F. Kennedy and Katie Holmes as Jackie Kennedy, it was an ambitious project hatched by former 24 co-creator Joel Surnow. While at TCA’s, ASSIGNMENT X caught up with THE KENNEDYS director Jon Cassar (also another former 24 alum) to ask him about his thoughts on the cancellation and where the mini-series goes from here to secure a U.S. network. ASSIGNMENT X: Can […]Read On »
