Exclusive Interview: TEEN WOLF star Tyler Posey is an American werewolf on MTV

Tyler Posey in TEEN WOLF - Season 1 | ©2011 MTV

MTV’s TEEN WOLF, airing Mondays at 10 PM, is a much more dangerous, sexy and scary take on its subject matter than its title (borrowed from an 1980s Michael J. Fox vehicle) might suggest. Tyler Posey plays Scott McCall, a small-town high school student whose life is turned upside-down in ways both wonderful and terrifying when he is bitten by a strange creature and subsequently becomes a werewolf, with all the strength, heightened senses and moon-influenced bloodlust that comes with the curse. TEEN WOLF has become extremely popular in its first season and is already renewed for a second. Part […]Read On »

It’s more about the strategy of combat and little victories and less about full-out weekly alien/human war. After all, the series began AFTER the aliens had already wiped out most of earth with only a small […]Read On »

With ABC Family finding success with PRETTY LITTLE LIARS based on the young adult novels by Sara Shepard, the network is now adapting THE LYING GAME to series from the Shepard novels as well about twins (both played by Alexandra Chando ) who discover the other exists and decide to swap lives temporarily with disastrous (and mysterious) results. Like LIARS, THE LYING GAME will follow its own path in order to sustain itself as a TV series, and at today’s Television Critics Association press session for the show, executive producer Charles Pratt, Jr. spoke about the adaptation. “If you’ve read the […]Read On »

Soap fans were obviously upset that ABC cancelled their long-running daytime soaps ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE, and that’s extended to the promise of boycotting the reality shows replacing them on ABC’s daytime schedule. Executive producer Gordon Elliott of THE CHEW, a new food talk show (think THE VIEW with food) that will air in that soap time slot, addressed this concern to the press today during a Television Critics Association session. “We hope that [soap fans] will enjoy our show,” says Elliott who was thrilled to hear ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE will […]Read On »

At today’s Television Critics Association session for the new ABC reboot of CHARLIE’S ANGELS, executive producers Al Gough and Myles Millar spoke about what makes this version different from the 1970s series and the successful feature films. “We wanted to make these women feel real,” says Gough. “When you launch a TV series, the success comes in following characters that make you want to come back to each week.” Having rebooted the Superman franchise with SMALLVILLE, Gough and Myles are also no strangers to fan expectations and the key ingredients in rebooting a franchise for a whole new generation. “We […]Read On »

TCA 2011 News: PAN AM producer/director talk about how the 1960s set series is nothing like MAD MEN

With NBC debuting the 1960s set THE PLAYBOY CLUB this fall and ABC airing the 1960s set PAN AM (a serialized drama about the legendary international airline), questions have arisen whether or not these series would not have made it on the air without the success of the AMC period drama MAD MEN. While at today’s Television Critics Association session for the new ABC series PAN AM, executive producer  and director Thomas Schlamme says a good show has nothing to do with its setting. “Television is execution, and not the time period it takes place in,” says Schlamme. “All I […]Read On »

With ABC just announcing that DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES will be ending after its forthcoming Eighth and final season, creator and executive producer Marc Cherry spoke today at the Television Critics Association today about how that decision came about. “I think the only thing harder in creating a hit show is when to end it – especially when you have one of the most amazing casts in the history of television,” says Cherry. “Because I have been working in TV for 23 years, I’m also very aware of people overstaying their welcome [especially] shows that have gone on too long, drifted away […]Read On »

While ABC has filled its new schedule some pretty amazing new programs, the one series that is having many critics scratching their heads is WORK IT – a cross-dressing comedy about two men, who dress like women, to get a job in the working woman’s world. At today’s ABC Television Critics Association session, ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee defended his decision for picking up the series. “I’m a Brit – I have to do a cross-dressing show,” says Lee. “And I grew up with Monty Python.” Of course, Lee admits he didn’t expect the new show would be embraced by […]Read On »
