Lucy Lawless in SPARTACUS - GODS OF THE ARENA | &copy 2011 Starz

With the end of SPARTACUS: BLOOD AND SAND, it looked like the series might be gone indefinitely. The leading man Andy Whitfield was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and began treatment which put the future of the show in limbo. The series was a huge hit for STARZ, and so it was inevitable that it would return in a new six-episode prequel series SPARTACUS GODS OF THE ARENA which debuts tonight. No longer are characters that you either loved or hated, or loved to hate are lying dead amongst the rubble of the gladiatorial school in this latest incarnation. Lucy Lawless […]Read On »

The Dork Side: Breaking up with AMERICAN IDOL

I am breaking up with someone. We were together for almost 10 years. The first couple of years were great. They were fun, and I really enjoyed our time together. In later years, I started to look at our relationship more like work than fun. I found myself getting frustrated and bored. Sure, we made changes to try to keep things fresh, but ultimately they fell flat. This is really hard for me to say, but I’m sorry, AMERICAN IDOL. I’m just not that into you. I used to love AMERICAN IDOL. I used to watch every glorious minute of […]Read On »

Gubler plays his show’s resident genius, Dr. Spencer Reid, Vangsness is MINDS’ computer sorceress Penelope Garcia and Perrette is Goth techno-whiz Abby on NCIS. “Did you hear about the crossover with Pauley?” Gubler asks excitedly. “Our characters are best friends from school,” Vangsness adds. “Reid and Abby went to MIT together,” Gubler elaborates. Are NCIS and CRIMINAL MINDS combining forces? Is this a huge crossover […]Read On »

TV Review: THE CAPE – SEASON 1 – ‘Kozmo’

Summer Glau and David Lyons in THE CAPE - Season 1 - "Kozmo" | ©2011 NBC

“Kozmo” is a shrewdly constructed episode of THE CAPE, almost as tightly woven as the title object, telling us a lot about several characters and the cape itself, while injecting a note of unexpected mysticism and presenting everybody with immediate threats and moral conundrums.

David Lyons in THE CAPE - Season 1 | ©2011 NBC

Wasting no time for its audience or its characters, “Tarot,” the second episode of THE CAPE gets into all kinds of mayhem in no time, as our hero Vince Faraday, aka the Cape (David Lyons), seems to get the drop on his arch-nemesis Chess (James Frain) – only to be felled by poison delivered by Cain, aka the Chef (Raza Jaffrey).
