Yes, there’s not much going on here (and there’s no way this is the final Cat-suit), but at least it’s a nice taste of what to expect from the third and final chapter in Nolan’s BATMAN trilogy. THE X-FACTOR logo

At today’s Summer 2011 Television Critics Association press session for Fox’s new reality singing competition THE X FACTOR, host and producer Simon Cowell let slip that Mariah Carey may be involved in some capacity in the upcoming season. “I don’t want to give too much away, but we do have well-known people helping us on the show,” says Cowell. “There’s a section on the show that Mariah will get involved with. She’s been enthusiastic from Day 1 and she selfishly got pregnant, which is why she didn’t end up as a judge.” We’re pretty much sure he was being cheeky […]Read On »

While promoting THE X FACTOR during the Summer 2011 Television Critics Association press tour, judge Paula Abdul talks about reuniting with her former AMERICAN IDOL sparring partner Simon Cowell on this Fox network reality singing competition. “It’s nice to be back in a demented relationship,” says Abdul. “It’s like the EXORCIST 2,” adds Cowell dead-pan (and via satellite). Meanwhile, X FACTOR host Steve Jones couldn’t help but chime in and mediate. “It’s like mommy and daddy had a trial separation, but they still argue all the time,” says Jones.” As for how different THE X FACTOR will be different from […]Read On »

Although Simon Cowell didn’t add much to the news of the recent ouster of judge Cheryl Cole from THE X FACTOR, his new U.S. reality singing competition airing on Fox this fall, he did clarify that it had nothing to do with not getting along with fellow judge Paula Abdul. “If it was a question of getting along with Paula, I wouldn’t be on the show,” says Cowell with a grin while speaking via satellite at today’s Television Critics Association panel for THE X FACTOR. Cowell notes that the idea was to get Cole back on the U.K. version when […]Read On »

Even though Simon Cowell’s new singing competition series THE X FACTOR airs on Fox in the fall while AMERICAN IDOL (which he used to be on) airs in the Spring, he admitted today at a Summer 2011 Television Critics Association session that he still has the desire to beat IDOL. “You don’t enter something going for the silver medal,” says Cowell who managed to beat POP IDOL in the U.K. with THE X FACTOR previously. “You do it because you want to be number one. We’re going to throw everything at this to make it the best show on TV.” […]Read On »

With GLEE entering Season 3, controversy has dogged the Fox show in the last few weeks. Some of it stems with co-creator Ryan Murphy talking about writing three of the show’s primary leads off the show (Chris Colfer, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith) at the end of this season by having them graduating, but failing to mention he was quietly developing a spin-off for them. It all blew up in everyone’s face, with tons of back-pedaling, and at today’s Summer 2011 Television Critics Association executive session, Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly spoke about it from the network perspective. “The public nature […]Read On »

Carl Sagan's COSMOS - DVD cover

The last thing anyone would expect the Fox network to do would be a documentary sequel to the hit 1980s PBS/Carl Sagan hosted and produced documentary science series COSMOS, but it’s official – they’ve greenlit it. Titled COSMOS: A SPACE-TIME ODYSSEY, the series will surprisingly be produced by FAMILY GUY creator Seth MacFarlane. At today’s Summer 2011 Television Critics Association Fox session, Fox’s Entertainment President Kevin Reilly spoke about picking up this property to series. “It’s a unique property that doesn’t feel like a natural fit on Fox, but it was the most successful thing PBS has done,” explains Reilly. When Fox announced that AMERICA’S MOST WANTED, a Saturday night staple since the network began, wouldn’t be returning for a full new season, questions arose as to why. At today’s Television Critics Association press day for Fox, the network’s Entertainment President Kevin Reilly talked about the reasoning of scaling the show back to four specials this year instead of a full season. “It was an unsung hero and did a tremendous job of delivering ratings every week, but it moved into a loss situation for us over the last couple of years,” explains Reilly. “We valued the show, carried it, […]Read On »
