First Paramount released new stills from CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, and now they’ve released two posters for the new THOR movie from Marvel Studios hitting theaters May 6 which stars Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder, Natalie Portman as his love interest and Anthony Hopkins as a his Daddy. Steven S. DeKnight is a man best known to fans for shows like SMALLVILLE, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, and most recently SPARTACUS (in it’s many forms). DeKnight also contributed to the BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER SEASON EIGHT comic book series from Dark Horse Comics, with a story about Vampy Cat toys and vampires in the mainstream. Warner Bros. just announced that actress Diane Lane will be cast as Martha Kent in the new SUPERMAN movie reboot directed by Zack Snyder. In the press release, Snyder notes, “This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman. We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.” Henry Cavill stars as the new Clark Kent/Superman. It’s taken some time, but the title of SPIDER-MAN 4 aka the SPIDER-MAN reboot movie is finally here and it is … THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. That’s not surprising, considering the title is also shared with one of the longest running SPIDER-MAN comic book series. Also released is a photo of Garfield in full costume – hopefully to quell fears that the behind-the-scenes footage of the Spidey-costume will look better when properly lit (it does). Looks like Brandon Routh will be shedding some Kryptonian tears – the actor is no longer the Man of Steel in the new SUPERMAN movie currently dubbed SUPERMAN: MAN OF STEEL. While everyone else was talking TV at NBC’s Winter TCA press tour in Pasadena, CA, geekdom was weighing in on the first photo released from the new untitled SPIDER-MAN 4 movie starring Andrew Garfield. Naturally, the cast of the geek-centric NBC comedy COMMUNITY chimed in on the photo during the session.
