It’s clear, Johnny Depp is indeed the star of the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN franchise and now the new film ON STRANGER TIDES has made him the dominant star. The movie opens May 20, and in the interim, check out the brand new poster from the movie and the special bus shelter one-sheets as well.
VARIETY is reporting that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE director David Slade will be directing the new DAREDEVIL reboot for 20th Century Fox. The previous Marvel Comics film adaptation came out in 2003 and starred Ben Affleck. It didn’t do particularly well at the boxoffice, so a reboot seems perfectly logical. Stay tuned for the expected parade of actors vying for the role of the blind lawyer turned superhero. Source: Variety
Producer Steve Starkey is glowing about his impressive new 3D, CGI animated film MARS NEEDS MOMS which opens tomorrow, so ASSIGNMENT X couldn’t resist asking him his thoughts on George Lucas’ post-conversion 3D of his entire STAR WARS saga. Yes, 3D has finally come to a Galaxy far, far away with LucasFilm finally post-converting the first film in his STAR WARS saga into that format. STAR WARS: EPISODE I – THE PHANTOM MENACE has set the date of February 10, 2012 for this huge event, which will once again introduce a whole new generation to the theatrical experience of this venerable franchise. Warner Bros. just announced that actress Diane Lane will be cast as Martha Kent in the new SUPERMAN movie reboot directed by Zack Snyder. In the press release, Snyder notes, “This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman. It’s hard to believe that the Syfy Channel Saturday night movie originals have been going strong for nine years running, and now their 200th film, SCREAM OF THE BANSHEE, is arriving on the cable network on March 26 at 9pm (ET/PT). There’s not much to say about the 83rd Annual Academy Awards, except that as much as they promised to be young and hip by hiring James Franco and Anne Hathaway to host, it was still the same old Academy Awards. Translation: few surprises, a dearth of actual laughs and predominantly canned speeches lacking any emotion or wit.
