With Zack Snyder directing and Christopher Nolan producing, excitement for the new Superman movie reboot MAN OF STEEL couldn’t be higher. Then, Warner Bros. sneaks this first look of actor Henry Cavill as Superman, and well, it’s pretty freakin’ cool. The ghost of Christopher Reeve and near lookalike Brandon Routh is giving way for a more modern caped crusader. The movie opens June 14, 2013 – so we have a long time to wait before fanboy nirvana (or exhaustion hits), but for now, nicely done.   AGREE? DISAGREE? LET US KNOW HOW YOU FEEL – COMMENT BELOW! Comic-Con 2011 News: Spider-Man will not be a part of any future THE AVENGERS movies according to producer Avi Arad

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #3 | ©2011 Marvel Comics

This one is a kind of a no-brainer, but for anyone wondering if the Spider-Man character would ever appear in a future THE AVENGERS team-up movie, don’t hold your breath. First of all, even though Marvel (and now Disney) owns the character, it’s currently licensed to Sony Pictures, which makes it harder to extract him for a movie at another studio. However, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN producer Avi Arad at a press event during Comic-Con 2011 says there’s another reason for not putting him a big movie like that either. “There’s the team-ups [in the comics] that keep the publishing going, […]Read On »

With THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN rebooting the film franchise with new Peter Parker Andrew Garfield and new director Marc Webb, at today’s 2011 Comic-Con press event producer Avi Arad discussed why they went the reboot route as opposed to a fourth chapter in the Sam Raimi/Tobey Maguire incarnation of the franchise. “Most of you are aware we started on the way to do another movie, but our director [Raimi] and cast and us realized there wasn’t enough newness,” says Arad. “There was not a new story to tell. As we started to discuss this movie and what we wanted to make, […]Read On »

SDCC 2011 News: RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES director reveals how this new prequel ties into the franchise

How faithful is the new RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES prequel? Well, director Rupert Wyatt, while speaking to the press at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con, says it’s always a challenge to make a film of this ambition. “It’s never from my point of view as a director,” says Wyatt. “It was never my intention to be a slave to the franchise as it were. The writers presented us with a script that is very, very respectful and subtly acknowledging the mythology, but it’s very much an origin story in the real sense of the world. It’s the […]Read On »

SDCC 2011 News: Was EXPLOSION the alternate title to PROMETHEUS?

While speaking to the press at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con, LOST co-creator Damon Lindelof spoke about scripting the new Ridley Scott directed film PROMETHEUS, which depending on who you speak to, is a thinly veiled prequel to Scott’s 1979 ALIEN. In coming up with a title, Lindelof says he wanted to come up with something “pretentious” like INTENTION. “PROMETHEUS makes the movie sound much smarter and much better than my original title EXPLOSION,” Lindelof says with a grin. Lindelof does go on to say that the title is very key into the story of the film, since Prometheus was […]Read On »

SDCC 2011 News: PROMETHEUS star Charlize Theron wishes she got into shape for the new sci-fi film

While Sigourney Weaver clearly has some big shoes to fill now that Ridley Scott is helming a loosely connected prequel to his 1979 classic ALIEN, casting Charlize Theron in the new film called PROMETHEUS surprisingly didn’t require the actress to get into shape. “I was going to do MAD MAX, so I started training for that for six months,” says Theron. “I would be lying if I said I was training for this.” Her character of Meredith Vickers is more business-like than kick-ass heroine, which got very interesting for the actress. “I’m the Suit,” she says. “I have a very […]Read On »

While speaking to the press at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con, writer-producer Damon Lindelof (LOST)  finally revealed the secrets behind the new film PROMETHEUS that he penned and produced for director Ridley Scott. What started off as a prequel to Scott’s 1979 classic, ended up becoming its own entity. However, details were scarce until today as Lindelof spilled some of the secrets. “I think from the beginning Ridley has been very cryptically obtuse about it,” says Lindelof. “There are some very big ideas in PROMETHEUS, thereby it covers a vast space of time – the past present and future. Is […]Read On »
