Disney • Pixar held the World Premiere of MONSTERS UNIVERSITY, June 17th at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. It was a big premiere with the blue carpet running almost the whole block from Highland to Orange closing down Hollywood Blvd., which also included a Tailgate event with games and food for the guests. As usual it was lots of press, photographers and fans. FOX Searchlight and Piaget presented the Los Angeles Premiere of THE EAST on May 28th at the ArcLight Hollywood Theatre 10. THE EAST was the second premiere of the night after THE KINGS OF SUMMER special screening. After the backdrop was changed the photographers were allowed back into the area to take their place. CBS Films presented the Los Angeles special screening of THE KINGS OF SUMMER at the ArcLight Hollywood on May 28th. This was the first of two premieres that night at the ArcLight and after finishing one and giving them time to change the backdrop the other one started. The second one was THE EAST, from FOX Searchlight, which will be put up separately. Universal Pictures presented the American Premiere of FAST & FURIOUS 6 at the Universal CityWalk and Gibson Amphitheatre, Universal City Hollywood on May 21st. Fans got there before nine in the morning to get bracelets to be in the area by the CityWalk’s “5 Towers” Outdoor Concert Venue so they could watch the performances by Ludacis, Wiz Khalifa and 2 Chainz. Summit Entertainment held a special Los Angeles screening of NOW YOU SEE ME on May 23rd at the ArcLight Hollywood. Although it was just a screening the fans still came out to get autographs and pictures and screamed when they saw the stars. Paramount Pictures recently held the Los Angeles Premiere of STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. The TCL Chinese, where normally premieres are held is shut down for the summer for remodeling. Closing Hollywood Boulevard from Highland to Orange to accommodate the fans for this next installment in the STAR TREK Universe. Fans were everywhere hanging over the railings in the Hollywood/Highland Complex, besides in the bleachers overlooking the gray carpet and on both sides of the street. Anchor Bay Films recently held a Special Friends and Fans Screening of THE LORDS OF SALEM at the AMC BURBANK 16 in Burbank, CA. It was a late premiere with arrivals starting at around 9 pm. and the carpet was located by the entrance to the theatre. Dimension Films presented the premiere of SCARY MOVIE V on April 11th at the Cinerama Dome, Hollywood. It was a very crowded carpet full of electronic press and photographers, and they put photographers in two sections. Landing up standing by the glass doors to the theater a lot of the stars did not stop or were in a hurry to get inside, so most of us in that section shot whomever we could get to stop.
