TV Review: LEVERAGE – Season 3 – “The Ho, Ho, Ho Job”

‘Tis the season for holiday specials and TNT’s LEVERAGE is no different. Mixing in whimsy and festive good will with crime and heists is a mix made in Boston as the Leverage team attempt to stop a mall manager (Dave Foley) from ruining Christmas. The scam: to aid in his gambling debts, he’s hired a bunch of criminal rent-a-Santa’s to plan the biggest holiday swindle of all in “The Ho, Ho, Ho Job.”

TV Review: FRINGE – SEASON 3 – “Marionette”

Not sure why they gave us this episode as the send-off for FRINGE in 2010. In fact, I’d go as far as to say this fall finale ended in a whimper rather than a bang. Instead of ending it last week with the blowout episode where both Olivias (Anna Torv) swapped sides once again. We were given just a run-of-the-mill mad scientist episode in “Marionette.”

TV Review: SUPERNATURAL – SEASON 6 – “Appointment in Samarra”

Hot damn, I love Death. SUPERNATURAL has made a living on creating compelling characters that return to the show time and time again to either aid or hinder the Winchester brothers. Crowley (Mark Sheppard) being one of the all-time greats and the main thrust of the season (so far) this year.

Exclusive Interview: Bradley Whitford is one of THE GOOD GUYS

Colin Hanks and Bradley Whitford in THE GOOD GUYS - Season 1 | ©2010 Fox

On Fox’s great but under-appreciated THE GOOD GUYS, Bradley Whitford plays Dan Stark, a cop who was hot in the ‘70s and ‘80s and is still caught up in the look and mores of those decades. His new partner Jack, played by Colin Hanks, is a scrupulous young officer who can’t believe Dan’s tactics. Whitford, immortalized as White House staffer Josh Lyman for seven years on THE WEST WING talks about his very different role in THE GOOD GUYS – and about working with Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard on their forthcoming horror movie THE CABIN IN THE WOODS without […]Read On »

Exclusive Interview: DEXTER actor Desmond Harrington sees blood

On DEXTER (which airs its season finale on Sunday night), Michael C. Hall’s serial killer protagonist has lots of problems. One of these would be Miami police detective Joey Quinn, played by Desmond Harrington. Quinn is the partner and sometimes lover of Dexter’s sister Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) – and he’s also the one person at the station who thinks there’s something not quite right about the newly-widowed blood spatter expert. Harrington takes five with ASSIGNMENT X regarding his suspicious character, his appearance on GOSSIP GIRL and playing a cop. TAKE 1: Season Four of DEXTER was pretty traumatic for a […]Read On »

Exclusive Interview: THE DUKES OF HAZZARD star James Best gets animated about the 1980s cartoon spin-off THE DUKES

THE DUKES DVD | ©2010 Warner Bros.

THE DUKES OF HAZZARD was one of the most popular prime-time series on CBS in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, but many people forget that there was a short-lived Hanna-Barbera spin-off called THE DUKES featuring the same characters, same voices, but animated instead of live action. Instead of being set in Hazzard county, the animated series followed Bo, Luke and Daisy in a race around the world with Boss Hogg and Rosco in an attempt to save their family farm. James Best, who played the dim-witted (and somewhat corrupt) Rosco P. Coltrane reprised his role with this off-shoot and […]Read On »

Movie Review: THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER

THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA - THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER movie poster | © 2010 20th Century Fox

For those who take the pace, wit and generally immersive atmosphere of the HARRY POTTER films for granted, THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER is the latest example of the fact that making family-friendly fantasy is not as easy as it looks. The third of the films based on C.S. Lewis’ CHRONICLES OF NARNIA follows characters introduced in THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE and its sequel, PRINCE CASPIAN. Siblings Edmund (Skandar Keynes) and Lucy (Georgie Henley), now in their teens, are waiting out WWII at the home of their aunt and uncle; older siblings Peter and Susan are in America with their parents. Edmund and Lucy miss their days of adventure in Narnia and are coping with annoying, resentful younger cousin Eustace (Will Poulter), who can’t understand why they keep nattering on about an imaginary country. Then a painting on the wall comes to life and Edmund, Lucy and Eustace are all transported to a Narnian ocean, where they are rescued by a vessel captained by now-King Caspian (Ben Barnes). Caspian is happy to see his old friends again – he and his crew are off to find what became of seven missing lords. There’s an evil mist, a dark island, temptations and some deus ex machina up ahead.

Movie Review: THE COMPANY MEN

THE COMPANY MEN movie poster | ©2010 The Weinstein Company

John Wells is rightly a television legend, having executive-produced and run the writers rooms for E.R., THE WEST WING and CHINA BEACH, all intelligent, articulate dramas that focus on people dealing with life and death issues.

Hugh Jackman in REAL STEEL | ©2010 Dreamworks

No, it’s not a TRANSFORMERS spin-off. Instead REAL STEEL is a crazy new science-fiction action film starring Hugh Jackman who plays a promoter who manages robot vs. robot boxing matches. It sounds crazy, but this thing could actually work. It also has Steven Spielberg as an executive producer and A NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM‘s Shawn Levy at the helm. To get a sneak peak, check out the brand new stills and the teaser trailer below. The film opens October 7, 2011.

Exclusive Interview: TRON: LEGACY producer (and original creator/director) Steven Lisberger gets back on the grid

TRON: LEGACY teaser poster | © 2010 Walt Disney Pictures

It’s rare for a film to spawn a sequel (with some of the main cast) 28 years after the release of the original, but TRON has managed that feat and exceeded all expectations. The original TRON, co-written and directed by Steven Lisberger was a ground-breaking film that took computer programmer Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) inside a computer where he fought against nefarious programs inside the “grid.” It was unlike anything out there, but its concept was perhaps way ahead of its time, which is why the film wasn’t the mega-success it should have been. Now, audiences are ready and totally […]Read On »
