PBS’ MAKERS: WOMEN WHO MAKE AMERICA began last year as a three-hour documentary. This year, it’s back as a six-part series, focusing on women in various arenas, including politics, space, war, comedy, business and Hollywood. The “Women in Hollywood” segment airs Tuesday, October 7. Screenwriter/playwright Linda Woolverton is one of the interviewees. There is no question that her work has made a difference both in Hollywood and in the imaginations of many audience members of both genders and all ages, though perhaps particularly affecting young girls. Jerry Bruckheimer celebrated his 40-year career on June 24th by receiving the 2,501st star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the Category of Motion Pictures. The Jerry Bruckheimer Walk of Fame star is located in front of the El Capitan Theatre, which was very fitting since THE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN series, and the soon to be released THE LONE RANGER and many other films were released by Disney. Walt Disney Pictures held the World Premiere of TRON: LEGACY, presented by NOKIA on December 11th at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. The setup for TRON: LEGACY was amazing…blue carpet…neon backgrounds and girls dressed in white costumes greeting the stars and guests as they arrived.
