GRACEPOINT show runner Dan Futterman discusses the BROADCHURCH remake – Interview

Anna Gunn and David Tennant in GRACEPOINT - Season 1 - "Pilot" | ©2014 Fox/Ed Araquel

GRACEPOINT, the ten-episode miniseries airing in weekly installments on Fox beginning Thursday, October 2, is based on the eight-part British miniseries BROADCHURCH. In both, a young boy is found murdered in a small coastal town and in both, an outside police detective is brought in to supervise the case. He works with a local female police detective whose young son was the victim’s best friend. One more similarity between the two versions – in both, David Tennant plays the new-to-town detective (called Alec Hardy in BROADCHURCH and Emmett Carver in GRACEPOINT). Dan Futterman and his wife and frequent writing partner […]Read On »

Exclusive Interview: David Bradley on AN ADVENTURE IN SPACE AND TIME and being the first Who – PART 1

AN ADVENTURE IN SPACE AND TIME | ©2013 BBCAmerica

British actor David Bradley has just hit a fandom trifecta (there isn’t a the fandom trifecta – there will never be just three): he was the unhappily non-magical custodian Filch in the HARRY POTTER films, he continues as the indelible Walder Frey, host of the Red Wedding, on HBO’s GAME OF THRONES, and now he’s part of the DOCTOR WHO universe. Once upon a time, hard as it may be to recall and longer ago than many Whovians have been alive, DOCTOR WHO quite simply did not exist. It was brought into being in 1963 by a team including producer […]Read On »

Created by Chris Chibnall, BROADCHURCH shows how the murder of an eleven-year-old boy devastates the whole community of a small English coastal town. The crime takes a personal toll on its two primary investigators, out-of-town transfer Detective Inspector Alec Hardy, played by David Tennant, and local police detective Ellie Miller, played by Olivia Colman. Olivia is livid when she finds that Alec has been handed the job she was promised, but this is nothing compared to her shock when […]Read On »

TV Review: CAMELOT – Season 1 finale – “Reckoning”

Jamie Campbell Bower in CAMELOT - Season 1 - "Reckoning" | ©2011 Starz

Stars: Jamie Campbell Bower, Joseph Fiennes, Eva Green, Claire Forlani Writer: Chris Chibnall & Terry Cafolla Director: Mikael Salomon & Stefan Schwartz Network: Starz, airs Friday nights Original Telecast: June 10th, 2010 And with that we, the audience, have reached the finale of CAMELOT season one. It has been an interesting season in both good and bad ways. The first few episodes of the series seemed to set a pace that was breakneck and moving forward with a strong surety of the direction the season would end. Then unfortunately somewhere in the middle, the season seemed to lose direction and […]Read On »

Stars: Jamie Campbell Bower, Joseph Fiennes, Eva Green, Claire Forlani Writer: Chris Chibnall & Louise Fox Director: Mikael Salomon Network: Starz, airs Friday nights Original Telecast: June 3rd, 2010 Well, rushing towards the finale of CAMELOT you would hope that more starts happening, and following in the wake of episode seven where Morgan (Eva Green) had assumed the form of Lady Igrain (Claire Forlani), this latest episode “The Battle of Bardon Pass” did not disappoint. King Arthur (Jamie Campbell Bower) and Lady Guinevere (Tasmin Egerton) have had their extramarital activities exposed to Leontes (Phillip Winchester) who doesn’t take the news […]Read On »

CD review: CAMELOT original TV soundtrack

CAMELOT original soundtrack | ©2011 Varese Sarabande Records

Where the music of King Arthur tends to sweep in like a massively noble symphony on steeds, scoring brothers-in-arms Mychael and Jeff Danna do well by playing their leader as a subtler, second coming for another Showtime series that sexes up mythic history, this time in the realm of CAMELOT. It’s an intriguing setting for a world music approach that creates its sorcery with Indian ragas, exotic percussion, horns and Celtic rhythms, an approach that’s as timeless as it is lyrical. While the Dannas might not have the magic to get the kind of trumpeting orchestral firepower afforded to the […]Read On »

TV Review: CAMELOT – Season 1 – “Three Journeys”

Claire Forlani in CAMELOT - Season 1 | ©2011 Starz

Stars: Jamie Campbell Bower, Joseph Fiennes, Eva Green, Claire Forlani Writer: Chris Chibnall Director: Stefan Schwartz Network: Starz, airs Friday nights Original Telecast: May 6th, 2010 It saddens me when Period shows fall into all too familiar traps. So often they start of strong and then lose some of the head of steam that they had when they started. CAMELOT has fallen under this dark banner. The latest episode “Three Journeys” felt like a filler in between more important plot threads that were left out of this story’s continuity. King Arthur (Jamie Campbell Bower) takes off out of Camelot after […]Read On »

TV Review: CAMELOT – Season 1 – “Justice”

Jamie Campbell Bower in CAMELOT - Season 1 - "Justice" | ©2011 Starz

Stars: Jamie Campbell Bower, Joseph Fiennes, Eva Green, Claire Forlani Writer: Sarah Phelps & Terry Cafolla Director: Stefan Schwartz Network: Starz, airs Friday nights Original Telecast: April 29th, 2010 “Justice” is an interesting episode of CAMELOT. It’s one of the first times we get to see King Arthur (Jamie Campbell Bower) rule without the counsel or advice of Merlin (Joseph Fiennes). Since Merlin has returned from his journey to fetch the king a new sword, and used his magic which cost the lives of both the swordsmith and his daughter; he’s gone a bit round the bend. This is the […]Read On »
