The World Premiere of Marvel’s ANT-MAN was held recently in Hollywood at The Dolby Theatre. It was a big premiere closing down Hollywood Boulevard from Highland to Orange. Fans lined the street and the red carpet ran through Hollywood/Highland, which was lined with more fans. ANT-MAN was one of the most anticipated movies of summer releases. Few Marvel superheroes might have an inferiority complex like Ant-Man. The best kid’s stuff has always has a wisenheimer appeal to adults, bringing on cuteness that the tykes can enjoy, while working on a completely different satirical level that their parents get a chuckle out of. Such is the lovable balance of sweetness and sarcasm that’s made the Muppets endure through innumerable sequels, a hip factor that goes off the scale when you’ve got Flight of the Conchords’ Bret McKenzie re-invigorating a bunch of puppets. An iced cornucopia of The Magic Kingdom’s greatest fairy tale hits that reprises the Hans Christian Anderson LITTLE MERMAID magic, FROZEN brims over with cute sidekicks, a dashing hero and the upped ante of two princesses – one with a power that Professor Xavier would admire. Brett Ratner might not have the best tastes in p.c.-friendly sound bytes, but he certainly can make fun movies like three RUSH HOUR pictures, let alone have the geek love to get a legit movie jazz master like Lalo Schifrin to score those Chan / Tucker buddy cop pairings. For whatever reason, Schifrin’s not among the crew of TOWER HEIST picture that stands at the height of Ratner’s multiplex-pleasing skills. THE MUPPETS showed up in Hollywood recently to celebrate the World Premiere of their movie THE MUPPETS from Disney at the El Capitan Theatre. Sweetums was the first to walk down the green carpet to greet all the press. Followed by Kermit, Fozzie Bear, Animal, Rowlf and Walter in a black Chrysler Jeep Wrangler, who was a sponsor and then Miss Piggy rode up in a Silver Chrysler convertible smiling at all the press.
