Barrett Network: ABC, Monday nights, 10 p.m. Original Telecast: November 22, 2011 At first it seems like the normal banter between Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) and author consultant Richard Castle (Nathan Filion) as they walk to the crime scene in the “Kill Shot” episode of CASTLE . Then Beckett lets it drop that she’s still in physical therapy as part of her recovery from the gun shot wound she got at the end of last season when a […]Read On »

TV Review: CASTLE – Season 4 – “Heartbreak Hotel”

Nathan Fillion in CASTLE - Season 4 - "Heartbreak Hotel" | ©2011 ABC/Eric McCandless

Stars: Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic, Susan Sullivan, Molly Quinn, Tamala Jones, Seamus Deaver, Jon Huertas, Penny Johnson Jerald Writer: Elizabeth Davis Director: Bill Roe Network: ABC, Monday nights, 10 p.m. Original Telecast: November 7, 2011 Aside from the flashback which begins “Heartbreak Hotel,” this is one of those episodes that go back to the fun and witty CASTLE that we all know and love. Not happy about the flashback – flashback storytelling is just a lame way to build excitement at the beginning of a show when it does not need it. Nor did this one even come close to playing trough. Blech. […]Read On »

TV Review: CASTLE – Season 4 – “Cops and Robbers”

Molly Quinn in CASTLE - Season 4 - "Cops and Robbers" | ©2011 ABC/Mitch Haddad

Stars: Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic, Susan Sullivan, Molly Quinn, Tamala Jones, Seamus Deaver, Jon Huertas, Penny Johnson Jerald Writer: Terence Paul Winter Director: Bryan Spicer Network: ABC, Monday nights, 10 p.m. Original Telecast: October 31, 2011 Those CASTLE fans looking for the usual light-hearted banter, witty repartee and twists and turns aren’t going to like this episode. Because this one is the other side of the series featuring crime fiction author Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) and his real-life muse Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) solving crimes together. The show has always featured some heavier, more dramatic episodes – it has to, it would […]Read On »

TV Review: CASTLE – Season 4 – “Demons”

Stana Katic, Amanda Walsh, Nathan Fillion in CASTLE - Season 4 - "Demons" | ©2011 ABC/Vivian Zink

Stars: Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic, Susan Sullivan, Molly Quinn, Tamala Jones, Seamus Deaver, Jon Huertas, Penny Johnson Jerald Writer: Rob Hanning Director: Bill Roe Network: ABC, Monday nights, 10 p.m. Original Telecast: October 24, 2011 “Demons” is a marvelously made episode of CASTLE and I absolutely hated it. Okay, the truth comes out, I am a world-class weenie and creepy stuff just plain freaks me. Do. Not. Like. It. However, it’s CASTLE, and even if I don’t like scary stuff, the episode was nonetheless outstanding. When the star of a ghost hunting TV show gets murdered in the house he’s investigating, it looks more […]Read On »

So what’s the scoop on Season 7 of SUPERNATURAL? The cast and executive producers were keeping the secrets close to the vest during their press rounds at the 2011 Comic-Con, but we were still able to get some info out of them. Executive producer Sera Gamble says that the first episode back in Season 7 will find Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) still reeling from the events of the cliffhanger that found their friend/angel Castiel (Misha Collins) turning bad. “They are reeling from what’s been going on with this character that they’ve been best friends with,” says Gamble. It is instead a director’s cut of the film, with a new commentary track from director/co-writer Jack Messitt and some enlivening extras, including a good behind the scenes look at the film’s copious makeup effects. Unless one has seen the first cut very […]Read On »

Exclusive Interview: UGLY AMERICANS creator Devin Clark reveals the Season 2 dark side of New York City

The characters of UGLY AMERICANS | ©2011 Comedy Central

The world of New York City is not what it seems in the Comedy Central animated series UGLY AMERICANS (which has its second season premiere tonight). In the hilariously bizarre series (which features animation in the EC Comics vein), Mark Lilly is our hero – a social worker for the Department of Integration who has to deal with zombies, demons and wizards on a regular basis. The key to UGLY AMERICANS success is it plays everything very seriously, deriving the comedy out of the outlandish situations surrounding our hero. Creator Devin Clark spoke with ASSIGNMENT X this week in an […]Read On »

TV Review: SUPERNATURAL – Season 6 – “The Man Who Knew Too Much” – Season Finale

Misha Collins in SUPERNATURAL - Season 6 finale - "The Man Who Knew Too Much" | ©2011 The CW/Jack Rowand

Cast: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Jim Beaver, Misha Collins, Mark Sheppard Writer: Eric Kripke Director: Robert Singer Network: The CW, Airs Fridays Original Telecast:  May 20, 2011 I wonder if next season we’ll get a Rapture-based episode of SUPERNATURAL – it seems like exactly the type of fare that would fit perfectly with the show. It seems like Season 6 of SUPERNATURAL has been a number of seasons put into one. First, it was Sam (Jared Padalecki) returning from Hell with no soul and working with Samuel, who was in turn working with Crowley (Mark Sheppard), to hunt and gather […]Read On »

TV Review: SUPERNATURAL – Season 6 – “Let It Bleed”

Jensen Ackles and Cindy Sampson in SUPERNATURAL - Season 6 - "Let It Bleed" | ©2011 The CW/Michael Courtney

Cast: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Jim Beaver, Misha Collins, Mark Sheppard Writer: Sera Gamble Director: John F. Showalter Network: The CW, Airs Fridays Original Telecast:  May 20, 2011 The two-hour season finale of SUPERNATURAL is actually two single serving episodes that they decided to air back-to-back. The penultimate episode to Season 6, “Let it Bleed,” gives us the run-up to the final showdown – at least presumably – between the Winchesters boys and the partnership between Crowley (Mark Sheppard), king of Hades, and Castiel (Misha Collins), the boys’ favorite angel that has gone rogue in his quest to win the […]Read On »
