VICTORIA is airing its eight-episode first season Sunday nights on PBS’ MASTERPIECE, with a second season waiting in the wings. Jenna Coleman (of DOCTOR WHO) plays the nineteenth-century English monarch from before her ascension to the crown at age eighteen through the first years of her reign. Daisy Goodwin created the series, based on her meticulously researched book. (The writer also has a cameo as the Duchess of Inverness). Paramount Pictures recently celebrated the release of STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS Blu-ray and DVD release with a party at the California Science Center. The party was extra special as it took place beneath of wings of the Historic Space Shuttle Endeavour, but unfortunately the press (except for a select few) were anywhere near it. The white carpet was set up in the park area. Walking the carpet were the stars of STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, which included: J.J. September 21st was such a special and exciting day as the Space Shuttle ENDEAVOUR made its last voyage on top of a re-vamped 747 to the Los Angeles International Airport, as I am sure that most of you saw on television. John Thaw played the title role in the BBC’s INSPECTOR MORSE, based on the novels by Colin Dexter, from 1987 through 2000, though seven seasons and five specials, shown in the U.S. on PBS. The character died in the final special, THE REMORSEFUL DAY. Actor Thaw passed away in 2002, after forty-one years as a fixture of British television, with starring roles in THE SWEENEY, A YEAR IN PROVENCE and KAVANAGH Q.C. among the many to his credit. TCA News: PBS says expect ENDEAVOUR, the INSPECTOR MORSE movie prequel, to become a regular series

The popular British detective series INSPECTOR MORSE has been transformed into a one-off TV movie prequel called ENDEAVOUR and is based on Colin Dexter’s novels. The movie has already made its debut in the U.K. on ITV and has proven quite successful. This co-production with the PBS (which will air it this summer on MASTERPIECE MYSTERY!) has already provided talk that a TV series might follow.
