TV Review: FRINGE – Season 3 – “Immortality”

Anna Torv in FRINGE - Season 3 - "Immortality" | ©2011 Fox /Liane Hentscher

Cast: Anna Torv, Joshua Jackson, John Noble, Lance Reddick, Jasika Nicole, Kirk Acevedo Director: Brad Anderson Writers: David Wilcox, Ethan Gross Airs: Fridays on Fox Original Telecast: February 11, 2011 Bugs. I don’t think anyone really likes them other than those that have something invested scientifically. Even if you don’t mind them, you can’t really say you enjoy their presence. So having them hatch and explode from inside of you isn’t a pleasant thought at all and gives me specifically the heebie jeebies. Of course, it was FRINGE that decided to capitalize on this very subject in “Immortality” where a […]Read On »

Blu-ray Review: I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE

I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE Blu-ray | © 2011 Anchor Bay Home Entertainment

Stars: Sarah Butler, Chad Lindberg, Rodney Eastman Writer: Stuart Morse based on the 1978 screenplay by Meir Zarchi Director: Steven R. Monroe Distributor: Anchor Bay Suggested Retail Price: $34.99 I get a little sick of all the lame remakes or reimagining or whatever you call them because they are either a straight remake of the original or they screw it up entirely ruining any legacy the film may have had. The original 1978 I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE was a marvel of shock, Grindhouse style and quite frankly like nothing else that had been seen where an innocent woman is […]Read On »

TV Review: FRINGE – Season 3 – “Concentrate and Ask Again”

Anna Torv in FRINGE - Season 3 - "Concetrate and Ask Again" | ©2011 Fox/Liane Hentscher

Anyway … “Concrete and Ask Again” delved away from the core mythology of FRINGE for the first time in a few weeks by delivering a “monster of the week” tale. Of course, there was no real monster here as it was a trio of ex-military officers scorned by the fact that after they were inoculated for a powder that breaks every bone in the body, they couldn’t have children or their children died of the same bone condition the powder caused.

TV Review: FRINGE – Season 3 – “Reciprocity”

Well, that’s it. Peter (Joshua Jackson) is starting to crack on FRINGE.

When you go on a murderous rampage of self-affirmation and just-cause that’s always a bad precedent to start – even if that murderous rampage happened to be the wholesale killing of a bunch of scumbag shapeshifters.

MOVIES LET ME IN – I’m sure any horror fan has already seen the original version of this film, the Norwegian-centered LET THE RIGHT ONE IN, and you were also pretty skeptical about this U.S.-version given how awesomely kick-ass the Norwegian version is. But for once, they didn’t […]Read On »

Movie Review: THE RITE

THE RITE movie poster | ©2011 Warner Bros.

THE RITE is actually based on the book “The Rite: The Making of a Modern Exorcist” which follows real-life Catholic exorcist priest Father Gary Thomas and illustrates various points in his journey. The movie is ‘inspired by true-events’ so there is no really conclusive way to figure out where the original story ends and the Hollywood version starts. Still, the movie is an entertaining ride of white-knuckled tension that leaves the audience waiting for something diabolical to surface in scenes where there is actually nothing to indicate a scare.
