HUNTERS is currently streaming its ten-episode first season on Amazon Prime, and renewed for a second season. Created by David Weil and set in the 1970s, this story casts a band of Holocaust survivors, led by Al Pacino’s Meyer Offerman, who come together to violently take down Nazis who have settled in the U.S. The tone is quasi-superhero comic book, mixed with actual history. Actor Julian McMahon is no stranger to the science-fiction/fantasy/horror genre. He costarred as the demonic Cole in multiple seasons of CHARMED, played Dr. Doom in the 2005 and 2007 FANTASTIC FOUR films, appeared in BAIT (Great White sharks terrorizing a submerged supermarket) and also starred in the 2003-2010 run of NIP/TUCK (not technically genre, but often surreal). Now McMahon plays McCarthy, an extraterrestrial carrying out terrorist acts against humans in Syfy’s Monday night series HUNTERS. The season was shot in McMahon’s native Australia. In Syfy’s Monday-night series HUNTERS, created by Natalie Chaidez, a new division of the government investigates whether certain terrorists are really extraterrestrials, and vice-versa. Chaidez, previously a writer/producer on HEROES, TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES and 12 MONKEYS, is also one of HUNTERS’ executive producers.
