It will be interesting to hear whether the WILFRED creative team has decided on this as a way to go with the series or […]Read On »

While we spend a fair amount of time wondering who is going to let go of whom, or what, we can actually track what’s happening here. Not only do we remain in a single reality throughout, but Wilfred […]Read On »

Robin Williams in WILFRED - Season 2 - "Progress" | ©2012 FX/Ray Mickshaw

Stars: Elijah Wood, Jason Gann, Fiona Gubelmann, Robin Williams, Steven Weber, Chris Klein Writer: David Zuckerman, series created by Jason Gann & Adam Zwar, adapted for American television by David Zuckerman Director: Randall Einhorn Network: FX, Thursdays @ 10 PM Airdate: June 21, 2011 Expecting answers out of WILFRED is becoming like expecting Lucy to hold the football for Charlie Brown. By the end of “Progress,” which is billed not as the start of Season 2 but as a special episode, we are as or more bewildered than Ryan (Elijah Wood). This is saying something, considering that the poor guy […]Read On »

At today’s TCA session for the FX Network, details were revealed on the second season of the popular comedy WILFRED starring Elijah Wood as Ryan, who may or may not be hallucinating that his girlfriend’s dog Wilfred (Jason Gann) is talking to him and getting him in massive trouble. Creator and star Gann reveals that Season 2 will “continue to explore Ryan’s journey toward enlightenment with Wilfred leading the way and tripping him up along the way as well.” As for resolving Season 1’s cliffhanger, executive producer David Zuckerman says that will be resolved pretty quickly at the start of […]Read On »

Stars: Elijah Wood, Jason Gann, Fiona Gubelmann, Dorian Brown, Chris Klein, Ray Wise Writers: David Zuckerman, series created by Jason Gann & Adam Zwar, adapted for American television by David Zuckerman Director: Randall Einhorn Network: FX, Thursdays @ 10 PM Airdate: September 8, 2011 It seems somehow appropriate that the first season of WILFRED should end with main human character Ryan (Elijah Wood), along with the audience, more confused than when all this started. After all, once he and/or we start asking the questions that finally occur to Ryan about dog-who-appears-as-man-in-a-dog-suit Wilfred (Jason Gann) – “Who are you? What are […]Read On »

Stars: Elijah Wood, Jason Gann, Fiona Gubelmann, Dorian Brown, Chris Klein, Gabriella Pession Writers: Sivert Glarum & Michael Jamin, series created by Jason Gann & Adam Zwar, adapted for American television by David Zuckerman Director: Randall Einhorn Network: FX, Thursdays @ 10 PM Airdate: September 1, 2011 In WILFRED, a lot of things are in flux a lot of the time, including everyone’s motives and emotions. That’s probably to be expected when the show is about a young man who sees his neighbor’s dog as an Australian fellow in a dog suit. It’s easy to accept that Wilfred (Jason Gann), […]Read On »

Exclusive Interview: It’s a dog’s life for WILFRED star Jason Gann

To employ a cliché, Jason Gann is a lot better-looking in person than he is on television. To be fair, this may have something to do that when he’s on television, he’s playing the title character in FX’s Thursday 10 PM comedy WILFRED, so he’s dressed in a fuzzy black-and-white dog suit with floppy ears and a painted-on black nose. This is because Wilfred is a dog, although to his owner’s neighbor, Wilfred looks and talks like an Australian bloke in a dog suit. Not that this is one of Hollywood’s more time-consuming transformations, Gann notes with a laugh. “It’s […]Read On »

Stars: Elijah Wood, Jason Gann, Fiona Gubelmann, Dorian Brown, Dwight Yoakam Writers: Reed Agnew & Eli Jorne, series created by Jason Gann & Adam Zwar, adapted for American television by David Zuckerman Director: Randall Einhorn. Network: FX, Thursdays @ 10 PM Airdate: August 25, 2011 WILFRED viewers may have questions along the lines of, “What the hell is really going on here?” For awhile, “Doubt” seems like it’s going to answer some of these, but it turns out, like so many other things about Wilfred the character (Jason Gann), to be simply a gotcha. However, as it’s a smart, funny […]Read On »

Coincidentally, popularity, and the lack of it, is the topic of “Isolation,” which breezily […]Read On »
