Ian Fleming, who famously created James Bond, was in reality a British Naval Intelligence officer during World War II. BBC America is presenting a miniseries, FLEMING: THE MAN WHO WOULD BE BOND, beginning Wednesday January 29, starring Dominic Cooper as the journalist-turned-spy-turned-author. Fleming’s love life was almost as scandalous as that of his fictional hero. He notably fell in love with Ann O’Neill, who was married to a British nobleman when they met. Recently Lionsgate and Millennium Films held the World Premiere of THE EXPENDABLES 2 at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. It was the usual scenario at the premiere – street closures, fans lined the street screaming when the stars arrived and tons of photographers and electronic press lined the black carpet. Walking the carpet were the stars of the film, which included: Sylvester Stallone (Screenplay), Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Charisma Carpenter, Nikolette Noel, Brian Tyler (Music), Simon West (Director). Jean-Claude Van Damme would get one of his best starring roles in this successful, if now relatively unsung 1993 film that sees his ex-con step into Shane-like shoes (via motorcycle), taking on the evil mining barons out to murderously toss out attractive homesteader Rosanna Arquette and her kids. RUN‘s impressively subdued and intelligent handling can be squarely credited to director Robert Harmon, who wisely reteamed here with his HITCHER composer Mark Isham. DreamWorks Animation held the Los Angeles Premiere of KUNG FU PANDA 2 at the Mann’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on May 22nd. They had a huge before party with games and food that the stars and guests attended. Each attendee was giving a black gift bag filled with stuff, although I’m not sure what was in the bag! Fans lined the open area opposite from the press to get autographs and take pictures, and waited until Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt arrived; which since Jolie and Pitt love their fans, they signed many autographs.
