Santino Fontana’s character Greg Serrano may be a comparatively less loony person on the CW’s hour-long Monday night musical comedy series CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND, but the actor’s own schedule looks pretty bonkers, as he’s simultaneously co-starring in NBC’s new Thursday-night police drama SHADES OF BLUE as NYPD officer Stuart Saperstein. The two shows could hardly be more different. Early in the day at Fox’s 2012 Summer TCA Press Tour, AMERICAN IDOL producer Nigel Lythgoe spoke about the judge turnover on the show with Steven Tyler out and Jennifer Lopez saying he hoped Lopez would stay. “I was really upset to hear of Steven leaving us and the possibility of Jennifer leaving us,” says Lythgoe. “She did say 99 percent she was leaving. In what has become one of the most boring AMERICAN IDOL competitions since Lee Dewyze and Crystal Bowersox battled it out on Season 9, the reality show competition whittled down the contestants from three to two with Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez.
