Rollo (Clive Standen) in VIKINGS "All Change" | (c) 2013 History/Jonathan Hession

Cast: Travis Fimmel, Clive Standen, Katheryn Winnick, Gabriel Byrne, Gustaf Skarsgard, Jessalyn Gilsig, George Blagden Writer: Michael Hirst Director: Ken Girotti Network: Airs on History, Sundays at 10 p.m. Original Telecast: April 28, 2013 The season finale of VIKINGS was not your typical one, but for a show that has been anything but typical from the start that really shouldn’t surprise anyone. “All Change” was not a knockdown, drag out battle between warring factions of Scandinavia but was more of a stage setting for what was to come – which will surely be a knockdown, drag out battle between warring […]Read On »

It was the final confrontation between Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and the leader of their Nordic tribe Earl Haraldson (Gabriel Byrne) and the culmination of nearly everything we have seen on the show up until this point. Given the brutality of “Raid” from last week […]Read On »

TV Review: VIKINGS – Season One – “Raid”

The Earl (Gabriel Byrne) in VIKINGS "Raid" | (c) 2013 History/Jonathan Hession

Cast: Travis Fimmel, Clive Standen, Katheryn Winnick, Gabriel Byrne, Gustaf Skarsgard, Jessalyn Gilsig, George Blagden Writer: Michael Hirst Director: Ciaran Donnelly Network: Airs on History, Sundays at 10 p.m. Original Telecast: March 31, 2013 This was an exceptionally brutal episode of VIKINGS. And when I say that it is actually saying something considering every episode of this show on History has been very brutal. But “Raid” was by all means the fall of the Lothbroks at the hands of the ruthless Earl Haraldson (Gabriel Byrne). Haraldson has pretty much been dead set on eliminating made a move to eliminate Ragnar […]Read On »

Cast: Travis Fimmel, Clive Standen, Katheryn Winnick, Gabriel Byrne, Gustaf Skarsgard, Jessalyn Gilsig, George Blagden Writer: Michael Hirst Director: Ciaran Donnelly Network: Airs on History, Sundays at 10 p.m. Original Telecast: March 24, 2013 Building on the theme that was established in the first raid out west in VIKINGS, “Trial” showed that these bearded band of bad asses are definitely not good people. Picking up after the previous episodes were Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and his Viking sailors made land once again on England and dispatched the local sheriff and soldiers. They pressed on to the neighboring village and Ragnar, […]Read On »

Not only are you treated fairly well in terms of getting a house over your head and a warm cot, but as was shown in “Dispossessed” you get the opportunity to share the wife of the man who owns you. And when you are talking about the lovely Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) that’s a pretty […]Read On »

TV Review: VIKINGS – SEASON 1 – “Wrath of the Northmen”

Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) and his raiders prep for battle in VIKINGS "Wrath of the Northment" | (c) 2013 Jonathan Hession/History

Cast: Travis Fimmel, Clive Standen, Katheryn Winnick, Gabriel Byrne, Gustaf Skarsgard, Jessalyn Gilsig Writer: Michael Hirst Director: Johan Renick Network: Airs on History, Sundays at 10 p.m. Original Telecast: March 10, 2013 The theme of this week’s VIKINGS’ episode “Wrath of the Northmen” really should have been called “Wrath of the Northwomen” because you do not want to f*** with these Nord chicks. From the Earl’s wife Siggy (Jessalyn Gilsig) beating the crap out of an unworthy snitch that hoped to get a little more out of the Earl than just gratitude (he ends up getting shanked near a pile […]Read On »

Proving that just having movies and documentaries are just not enough these days and the more successful original programming is what is drawing viewer interest. […]Read On »

This season had some really high points, and some horribly preachy overdone episodes, but all in all I try to just remember the moments that honestly were amazing. Following on the heels of last week’s episode “Funeral” (which was one of BEST episodes of the […]Read On »

The Dork Side: The problem with GLEE and its real “agenda”

Cory Monteith, Dianna Agron and Lea Michele in GLEE - Season 2 - "Night of Neglect" | ©2011 Fox/Adam Rose

I like GLEE. I really do, but, I have a problem with it, and I want you to know that I criticize it, because I care. Conservative pundits have been ranting about the supposed gay agenda the show is pushing, which is completely ridiculous. Of course, several media outlets ran with the story even though it’s total crap. There is no gay agenda. It’s just a TV show that treats its gay characters like actual human beings. “Gay people are people, too. Film at 11.” GLEE (which airs its Season 2 finale tonight) does a lot of things right. It […]Read On »

TV Review: GLEE – Season 2 – “Funeral”

Jane Lynch, Jessalyn Golsig, Kent Avenido in GLEE - Season 2 - "Funeral" | ©2011 Fox/Beth Dubber

Stars: Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Jessalyn Gilsig, Jane Lynch, Jayma Mays, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison, Amber Riley, Mark Salling, Jenna Ushkowitz Writer: Ryan Murphy Director:  Bradley Buecker Network: Fox, airs Tuesday nights Original Telecast: May 18, 2011 Characters should be the backbone of any TV series. They should move a series forward, they should connect with an audience and there should be some consistency in their actions as well. With GLEE in Season 2, it’s proven to be a topsy-turvy ride character-wise with random motivations, left-field personality switches and a heavy reliance on romantic pairings that […]Read On »
