The CW’s Archie-Comics-derived, RIVERDALE spinoff KATY KEENE is now in its first season on Thursday nights. The title heroine (Lucy Hale), an aspiring designer, lives with three roommates: aspiring singer Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray), aspiring promoter Pepper Smith (Julia Chan), and aspiring Broadway performer Jorge Lopez, played by Jonny Beauchamp. Jorge has a cabaret gig as his female alter ego, Ginger. Beauchamp, originally from Puerto Rico, has played transgender and cross-dressing characters before, as Angelique in Showtime’s PENNY DREADFUL and as Ray/Ramona in the film STONEWALL. KATY KEENE, which premieres on The CW Thursday, February 6, is a spinoff of RIVERDALE, a fellow adaptation of an Archie Comics property. Set in New York City, KATY KEENE follows its aspiring fashion designer title character (Lucy Hale), her good friend, fresh from Riverdale, aspiring singer Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray), their roommate, aspiring Broadway performer Jorge (Jonny Beauchamp) and his drag persona Ginger, plus all those in their orbit.
