Disney • Pixar held the World Premiere of MONSTERS UNIVERSITY, June 17th at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. It was a big premiere with the blue carpet running almost the whole block from Highland to Orange closing down Hollywood Blvd., which also included a Tailgate event with games and food for the guests. As usual it was lots of press, photographers and fans. FOX Searchlight and Piaget presented the Los Angeles Premiere of THE EAST on May 28th at the ArcLight Hollywood Theatre 10. THE EAST was the second premiere of the night after THE KINGS OF SUMMER special screening. After the backdrop was changed the photographers were allowed back into the area to take their place. Universal Pictures held the World Premiere of IDENTITY THIEF on February 4th at the Regency Village Westwood Theatre. IDENTITY THIEF is about a businessman named Sandy Patterson (Jason Bateman) whose identity gets stolen. Traveling from Denver to Miami to confront the person, Diana (Melissa McCarthy) who has been living it up since stealing his identity. Pictures, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, a Kennedy Miller Mitchell production, with Dr. D Studios, a George Miller film held the World Premiere of HAPPY FEET TWO at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. TCM (Turner Classic Movies) kicked off the TCM CLASSIC FILM FESTIVAL 2011 at the Grauman’s Chinese Theater, with an Opening Night Gala and World Premiere of the Newly Restored 1951 film AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, which corresponded with the 60th anniversary of its original release. AN AMERICAN IN PARIS is a colorful musical about a painter finding art and romance in the City of Lights. The movie starred the late Gene Kelly, who passed away in 1996, and Leslie Caron, who attended the gala presentation.
