Rating: R Stars: Russell Crowe, Ryan Gosling, Angourie Rice, Matt Bomer, Margaret Qualley, Yaya DaCosta, Keith David, Beau Knapp, Lois Smith, Kim Basinger Writers: Shane Black & Anthony Bagarozzi Director: Shane Black Distributor: Warner Bros. Release Date: May 20, 2016 At first, a comparison between the new release THE NICE GUYS and the 1974 classic CHINATOWN may seem incongruous. The older film, after all, is an Oscar-winning drama, while THE NICE GUYS is solidly within the tradition of its director/co-writer Shane Black’s trademark action/buddy comedies. But hang on – both are period pieces (CHINATOWN is set in 1937, GUYS in […]Read On »

Larry Kramer’s play THE NORMAL HEART was first produced off-Broadway in 1985. In real life, Kramer is one of the founders of ACT UP, which describes itself as “a diverse, non-partisan group of individuals united in anger and committed to direct action to end the AIDS crisis,” which was being largely ignored by the government in the Eighties. With GLEE entering its fourth season with storylines set in Ohio and New York, Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly reveals this new structure has worked out quite nicely with the three scripts he’s read so far. “I’m very happy with how seamless it is,” says Reilly. “There is a thematic linkage between the two. I think it’s going to be an event for fun for the audience not knowing who is going to show up when. We have a core of returning character we will be servicing every week and limited deals with some actors joining here or there.” Reilly […]Read On »

Warner Bros. Pictures held the World Premiere recently for MAGIC MIKE at the Regal Cinemas L.A. Live in Los Angeles, as the closing night gala of the 2012 Los Angeles Film Festival. MAGIC MIKE makes me think of Chippendale’s, where male strippers dressed in costume and performed for women of all ages, as the patrons screamed and stuffed money into the pants of the strippers…and no men were allowed in! Seen walking the carpet were the stars of the film, which included: Channing Tatum, Adam Rodriguez, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, Cody Horn, Olivia Munn, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, […]Read On »

Movie Review: MAGIC MIKE

Rating: R Stars: Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, Cody Horn, Olivia Munn, Matt Bomer, Riley Keogh, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez, Gabriel Iglesias Writer: Reid Carolin Director: Steven Soderbergh Distributor: Warner Bros. Release Date: June 29, 2012 It should be noted that in a thoroughly unscientific poll taken by this reviewer, virtually every heterosexual woman queried wanted to see MAGIC MIKE. Most of them did not care what the plot was like, or whether there would even be a plot. This may demonstrate that there’s a relatively untapped audience out there eager for male eye candy, or it […]Read On »
