Niecy Nash is a busy woman. Nominated two years in a row for Supporting Actress for her work in Showtime’s MOVING ON for her performance as Didi Ortley, a nurse at a geriatric care ward, Nash worked with Showtime again this year for a five-episode arc on MASTERS OF SEX. SCREAM QUEENS, which premieres Tuesday, September 22 on Fox Network, is the latest brainchild of Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk (who work together on AMERICAN HORROR STORY) and Ian Brennan (who worked with Murphy on GLEE). It’s a serialized, satirical take on the slasher genre, with a snooty sorority being terrorized by a mysterious murder and traumatized by being forced to admit – the horror! – non-snooty pledges. Actress Niecy Nash is having a busy time in the world of half-hour comedy. She’s currently in Season 2 of HBO’s GETTING ON, Sundays at 10:30 PM. It’s also been announced that TV Land’s THE SOUL MAN, which sees Nash playing the wife of series co-creator Cedric the Entertainer’s soul singer-turned-preacher character, has been renewed for a fourth season. Columbia Pictures recently held the premiere of 21 JUMP STREET at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Taken after the television show (1987-1991) of the same name, which starred Johnny Depp, Holly Robinson Peete (who stars in the film), Dustin Nguyen, Peter DeLuise and Richard Grieco. The film version has the same premise; two young looking guys from the police force go undercover in a local high school to investigate a drug ring.
