Universal Pictures and MRC presented the World Premiere of TED, June 21st at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Fans lined the street and even Spider-man joined them to see Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis and Seth MacFarlane. Not to disappoint the fans they went over to sign autographs. Seems something always happens at a premiere. This time an MTA bus came by when Mark Wahlberg walked back to the beginning of the carpet to wait for his wife Rhea Durham. Stars: Louie C.K. Writer: Louie C.K. Director: Louie C.K. Network: FX, Thursday nights Airdate: June 28, 2012 While WILFRED really got a lot of press last year on FX for being strange, groundbreaking, funny and utterly perplexing all rolled up in one, it’s taken three seasons for people to finally discover what a brilliant, unique and bizarre FX show LOUIE is. I caught a Season 2 episode one night on FX and was totally sucked in. It was suberverive, strange and very funny. And that’s why I was excited to see what comedian Louie C.K. had in store for the […]Read On »

Matt Passmore in THE GLADES - Season 3 - "Close Encounters" | ©2012 A&E

Stars: Matt Passmore, Carlos Gomez, Kiele Sanchez, Jordan Wall, Michelle Hurd Writer: Tom Garrigus Director: Jeff Bleckner Network: A&E, airs Sunday nights Original Telecast: June 3, 2012 CBS and USA have set the bar and template for the police procedural. CBS plays it straight, for the most part, while USA has a little fun with it. And A&E has found a nice middle ground with their Florida-set series THE GLADES, now entering its third season. There’s something familiar, fluffy and a bit routine about THE GLADES. It has a great cast with Matt Passmore serving as the anchor of the […]Read On »

Here is a show that celebrates genius and being smart, but also respects each character’s gifts. It is one of the most diverse shows on television, with two African Americans in prominent roles as scientists, including one woman. And women here are just […]Read On »

Novak Director: B.J. Novak Network: NBC, airs Thursday nights Original Telecast: September 22, 2011 For future TV series that plan on losing a major cast member, let’s hold of THE OFFICE as a prime of example of how to handle their exit with class and an adequate way to transition into how the show will operate without their lead. TV Review: FALLING SKIES – Season 1 Finale – “Mutiny”/”Eight Hours”

Connor Jessup and Noah Wyle in FALLING SKIES - Season 1 - "Eight Hours" | ©2011 TNT/Ken Woroner

Stars: Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Will Patton, Drew Roy, Maxim Knight, Connor Jessup, Sechelle Gabriel, Mpho Koaho, Peter Shinkoda, Colin Cunningham and Sarah Carter Writers: Joe Weisberg (“Mutiny”)/Mark Verheiden (“Eight Hours”) Directors: Holly Dale (“Mutiny”)/Greg Beeman (“Eight Hours”)August 7, 2011 After a strong start, a soft middle and a very cool homestretch, FALLING SKIES has proven to be the thinking man’s science-fiction TV series. It’s more about the strategy of combat and little victories and less about full-out weekly alien/human war. After all, the series began AFTER the aliens had already wiped out most of earth with only a small […]Read On »

Stars: Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Will Patton, Drew Roy, Maxim Knight, Connor Jessup, Sechelle Gabriel, Mpho Koaho, Peter Shinkoda, Colin Cunningham and Sarah Sanguin Carter Writer: Joel Anderson Thompson Director: Sergio Mimica Gezzan Network: TNT, Sunday nights Original Telecast: July 17, 2011 It looks like the first of an actual two-parter has finally jostled FALLING SKIES from its free-fall the last couple of weeks. After some pretty rote and by-the-numbers storytelling, “Sanctuary Part 1” actually shakes the show up a bit and does some interesting things that lead to a somewhat surprise ending. The episode gets started with the arrival […]Read On »

TV Review: FALLING SKIES – Season 1 – “Silent Kill”

Stars: Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Will Patton, Drew Roy, Maxim Knight, Connor Jessup, Sechelle Gabriel, Mpho Koaho, Peter Shinkoda, Colin Cunningham and Sarah Sanguin Carter Writer: Joe Weisberg Director: Fred Toye Network: TNT, Sunday nights Original Telecast: July 10, 2011 In another major mis-step for the promising series FALLING SKIES, “Silent Kill” once again relies on the series standard formula of a bunch of world-weary dialogue at the beginning of the episode (usually about surviving), a dangerous mission, and a coda that offers hope. Of course, this formula, five episodes in, is wearing considerably thin. It also doesn’t help that […]Read On »

Stars: Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Will Patton, Drew Roy, Maxim Knight, Connor Jessup, Sechelle Gabriel, Mpho Koaho, Peter Shinkoda, Colin Cunningham and Sarah Sanguin Carter Writer: Melinda Hsu Taylor Director: Fred Toye Network: TNT, Sunday nights Original Telecast: July 3, 2011 Okay, so three episodes is the limit for me on how a new series can take a limited story structure and milk it until it’s unbearable. FALLING SKIES has finally exceeded my limit. With “Grace” we’re stuck with another episode where Tom Mason (Noah Wyle) has to go on some sort of mission, avoid Skitters (the aliens), deal with […]Read On »
