BONES, now in its eight season on Fox, Monday nights at 8 PM, announced its Season 9 pickup very early – January, in fact (most shows wait until the May upfronts). TV News: DOWNTON ABBEY not to air at same time in U.S. on PBS as in UK

So it looks as if the American audience for DOWNTON ABBEY is going to have to be patient to see the next season in January again. While promoting SHAKESPEARE UNCOVERED, actor Jeremy Irons made some quite hilarious comments about the popular British series DOWNTON ABBEY. However, RESCUE ME’s Peter Tolan, who co-created and executive produces the series with its star Denis Leary, did something on the panel for the show’s final season that even the oldest TCA hands said had never occurred before.
