TV Review: DANCING WITH THE STARS – Season 12 – Week 10 – “Finals”

Well, it’s almost over.  Season 12 of DANCING WITH THE STARS has been a very sporadic, entertaining year with many people taking turns at being the front runner. Alas, it all came to an end in a very anti-climatic manner. None of the freestyles were mind blowing and yet the judges gave Hines Ward and Chelsea Kane perfect 30s, almost like it was expected. Kirstie Alley fared as well, no better, as she did in the semi finals with a 27 for her freestyle – still never achieving a perfect 30, meaning her chances of winning are almost nonexistent. The […]Read On »

The X List: Five Best DOCTOR WHO Stories About the TARDIS

Janet Fielding, Sarah Sutton and Peter Davison in DOCTOR WHO - Season Nineteen - "Castrovalva" | ©1982 BBC

She’s the most consistent star in the history of the series, appearing alongside her beloved Doctor even when dozens of other companions have come and gone. She’s the blue box with the infinite universe of rooms and corridors within, the last child of Gallifrey, the dimensionally transcendental Type 40 time-and-space machine known as the TARDIS – and she’s sexy too. From the SIDRATS of “The War Games” to the solo flying of the console in “Inferno” and “Day of the Daleks;” from glimpses of control rooms and wardrobes in “The Masque of Mandragora,” “The Twin Dilemma,” “Time and the Rani,” […]Read On »

DANCING WITH THE STARS Recap: Ralph Macchio is karate kicked off DWTS

Karina Smirnoff and Ralph Macchio are eliminated on the DANCING WITH THE STARS - Season 12 - Week 9 - Semifinals | ©2011 ABC/Michael Desmond

Lightening didn’t strike twice on DANCING WITH THE STARS as Ralph Macchio (and his partner Karina Smirnoff) were karate chopped off the show, placing him in fourth place for season 12. Unlike last week when somehow he escaped elimination after coming in last – partially due to a knee injury – this week his luck ran out and Hines Ward, Kirstie Alley and Chelsea Kane earned their place in the finals next week. The judges basically made their picks last night…Alley, Ward and Kane would go to the finals. Their low scores for Macchio basically told him that last night. […]Read On »

A DANCING WITH THE STARS miracle will have to happen tomorrow night for Ralph Macchio to escape elimination, yet again! He brought his sexy mojo – pimp style – to the dance floor and the judges rejected him! So, the semi finals are over, the votes are tallying in and soon we will know who will be in the DANCING WITH THE STARS Season 12 finals.  Two dances were done tonight plus a Cha Cha Cha winner takes all, which Chelsea Kane won, grabbing her an additional 15 judges’ points! The season is coming to an end. Unless a huge […]Read On »

DOCTOR WHO Series 6 makes a successful grab for greatness with “The Doctor’s Wife,” a love letter to the show penned by none other than celebrated fantasist Neil Gaiman. The Doctor (Matt Smith), Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill) respond to a […]Read On »

The X List: Five DOCTOR WHO Pirate Adventures

William Hartnell and George Cooper in DOCTOR WHO - Season 4 - "The Smugglers" | ©1966 BBC

Although “The Curse of the Black Spot” was only the second full-fledged period pirate tale featured in DOCTOR WHO, there have been  other televised adventures in which the TARDIS has landed in the middle of swashbuckling, sea- or space-faring scurvy dogs in full eye-patch and parrot-y regalia. Let’s take a look back at the other times the Doctor and companions shivered their timbers! (Note to the dedicated fans: I’ve automatically discounted Blackbeard’s brief appearance in “The Mind Robber” because it’s not a major part of the story, and we’re only doing actual TV WHO, not the novels, audios or what-have-you.) DANCING WITH THE STARS Recap: Romeo bids adieu to DWTS

Romeo bids the judges Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba goodbye after being eliminated on DANCING WITH THE STARS - Season 12 - Week 8 | ©2011 ABC/Adam Taylor

It’s a DANCING WITH THE STARS miracle! Ralph Macchio is saved while Romeo is cut loose from DWTS. In the biggest shocker since Petra Nemcova got the heave ho a few weeks back, Romeo ends his run (with his partner Chelsie Hightower) on Season 12 of DWTS and places fifth in the competition. The fans have spoken and they want Macchio in the semi-finals, along with Kirstie Alley, Chelsea Kane and Hines Ward. The results show week eight brought Alley the encore, which scored her that coveted first “10”. Her encore may actually have been even better than her Monday […]Read On »

TV Review: DANCING WITH THE STARS – Season 12 – Week 8 – Insta’ Dance Night!

Karina Smirnoff and Ralph Macchio perform in DANCING WITH THE STARS - Season 12 - Week 8 | ©2011 ABC/Adam Taylor

A DANCING WITH THE STARS miracle will have to happen tomorrow night for Ralph Macchio to escape elimination during Week 8 of Season 12. A miracle far greater than the one he just accomplished by dancing The Viennese Waltz and an “Insta’ Dance” Cha Cha Cha on a bum knee. With his knee injury peeking last Friday, it wasn’t even known whether or not Macchio was going to dance at all tonight, let alone get through it, until right before showtime. He persevered, making it through with somewhat decent, though not impressive, scores. And yet in this stage of the […]Read On »
